So am I reading you had a FWC Blazer camper back in the day? Very cool. Got pics of the old setup?Hi my name is Gary, I am looking for a square body blazer with "4-wheel" pop-up camper. I have an 85 blazer, lots of rust, so needing new square bodied rig. Will pay cash for complete unit; blazer with mounted pop-up or pop-up alone. I am in San Jose CA and can travel to view vehicle and self-transport or ship as needed...I am a previous owner of one of these rigs in 1985 and looking to re-buy or re-build so to keep these rigs on the road for my wife and I retirement.

Yes, there are a few of us nuts that have these off little campers that are here on CK5. I've had mine since 2018 and gone through a lot of it in the process. You can click on the link in my signature below for the action.
Guys have driven far for them, one member bought his in Washington state and drove from Oklahoma to get it. I've been contacted by another southern California guy through Instagram that bought one out of the Denver metro area and had it "professionally" transported to him. I used the quotes because the camper never made it. The driver blamed it on a freak wind storm that blew it off the back of the K5 destroying it in the process. Keep in mind, I've had mine up to 95 mph crossing Utah and didn't once have any feeling like it was going to eject. Most likely the driver of the transport truck did something as the story of a big windstorm sounded like BS to me.
I've had mine for 4 years and used it over the last three summers. I love having it.
I never stop looking for them. I'll keep you in mind if when I find another one.
Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck.![]()

I gotta say that is real encouraging!! I’ll make a thread. How’s you get your profile to say half ton status? My 88 is on half ton running gear as well

Well, she runs on cubic money...Greetings from Arkansas. I’ve had a love affair with these trucks my whole life. My first truck was a k5 35 years ago, but I always coveted those barn doors. I’ve had a couple of mid 80’s suburbans in the past, but they were very poor rusted out examples. I just took possession of a 1990 2500 Suburban. It’s a nice California truck that I probably paid too much for, but I just didn’t want to go down the rust road again. It will be primarily a hunting vehicle which involves some moderate trails and some gumbo mud. I plan to lift it 4 inches, run some 35’s and put a 383 in it. I’m fairly certain that’s what I want to do, just not certain the best course to get there. Thanks for having me.
