I will Join ASAP- I promise
For some reason I have been waiting to finish (well, get dialed) my small truck project before joining, I know "Lame"!
Quick rundown of where I am at:
I am basically building a big ol family wagon to head up camping, causing trouble and hauling bikes or boards around. Since its a big truck to start, I decided to make it bigger.
Specs:
1991 Suburban (currently blue/white)
- 454 MPFI Chev. Engine
- Headers/dual exhaust
- 4.56 gears in a locked up 14 bolt, currently open D60.
- Crossover steer (eventually hydro assist)
- I just ordered up some Bilstein 5150's that I hope work well
- TH400/NP205 (One day I hope for either dual case or lower geared NP205
- 1410 joints in rear driveshaft, hope to do the same for the front shaft (highangle prob.)
- various and changing suspension setup. Previous owner has an ugly body lift on it that will get removed once I have the final tire size narrowed down.
- 12" wide 16.5 rim right now. I am thinking of keeping these for now, maybe running some internal beadlocks (stauns) OR selling and having a set of dual-beadlocks made for the truck, possible for military radials???
Interior I plan on building a sleeping area above the wheelwell area with storage area below for tools and whatnot. I still will be able to use the rear seats (middle row).
Exterior
- I may do some variation of bedliner on the exterior once it gets some more scars
- I am going to do a roof rack to accomodate a large amount of bikes, gear whatever. Something full length, ladder on the back with spare tire, etc.
- Rear winch most likely since this truck will be somewhat limited by size and spreading the weight out might help.
Tire wise, still trying to figure that out. Since I dont have a super low ratio yet, I may stick to something "small" around 39"-42". I am looking at either TSL's or Pitbulls??? I want something wide for driving in the snow.
My eventual goal may be to move all the good stuff over into a much smaller play truck that fits better on the trail! We will see.
Anyhow, thought I would stop by and say hello. Great site, time for me to contribute $$
Tnx
