"Adrenalize",'78 Chevy 4WD sb pick-up
Hello to everyone at colorado k 5,and thank you for having me. My name is Tony , I'm 34,and I live in New Jersey.I'm married, and have a daughter.I joined this site to share ,as well as to be shared info and questions on my current project. Just so you know, this is my second build of a '70's ck bodied truck. My first go around was a'77 Blazer,(Hysteria),which was the first vehicle I owned.I purchased it when I was 16, way back in 1988.Thirteen years ,and two separate builds of the same truck, later,(first build had the body off ,and the second the body stayed on), I had to part ways with her. It was tough ,but it had to be done. Now,after being out of the scene for a couple of years,I am back in full steam, with my new project,"Adrenalize",(do you see a patern here?)Technically it's not a Blazer, but it's close enough. My new project is a '78 chevy sb pick-up,(can't get any closer than that). In her current stage she's just a couple of frame rails and cross members. The original body had to be scrapped.I guess after 27 years the elements really took their toll on it,because there was hardly any thing left! I located a cab and bed from an '85 2WD sb with almost no rust at all.So now with that being purchased, the reconstruction can begin.Like I said , right now the frame is getting it's make over by first filling all unwanted or needed holes and any cracks,(especially behind the steering box).As far as the suspension is concerned, I decided to go with the Off-Road Design 2"shackle reverse kit with 6" Skyjacker springs in the rear and 8" springs in the front,(still waiting on the springs),the shackle kit is on it.In addition I will be adding a 3" body lift to fit 39.5" or 40" rubber. As far as shocks are concerned, I will be adding the Trailmaster hoop kits on the front and a custom crossmember with dual mounts in the back.I'm also relocating the gas tank to the rear, between the frame.I also want to add a tilt bed to the equation if I can find a kit that is reasonably priced. With the frame in its current stage the possibilities are endless, but I am trying to keep things simple and clean. The one thing that is in my favor ,is the fact that the truck being 27 years old,it falls under New Jersey's classic car registration option which has self inspection.Believe me,this truck will be built with safety being a #1 priority,no doubt! It's just so much easier without the hassle of the dumb-asses at the DMV! As soon as I get a printer/scanner I will send some pictures. Thanks again TK in NJ.
