Hi! I'm bigGURN, I live in Idaho and I am all about off road toys (you name it I probably got one or have had at some time...) I grew up in an ALL ford family and recently ventured into GM trucks. Last year I bought a cherry K2500 454 Vortec supercab short box to haul the camper/ tow the 5th wheel, well now over the weeken I aquired a 1991 Blazer Scottsdale (traded off the sleds) with the 350, 4 speed, manual lock hubsand here I am... I have always had a jeep around, but thought the Blazer would be a nice change, plus i am sick pu putting SBC engines into jeeps, why not just start out that way?? So i hope to help answer questions where i can (once upon a time i was a mechanic) and hopefully get some help from you! Thanks for your vast knowledge in adavance!

New guy in AZ

hey everybody, Im Big Scott. Live out in Mesa. Been a lurker here for a few years now. Got a 78 a couple of weeks ago. Been driving the hell out of it ever since. Its got bad older paint, ****ty interior, ugly wheels, and little bit of rust, but I like it. Traded a $1500 03 ranger with a bad tranny straight accross for it. Had it out in the dirt already a couple times, and things went well. Hope to lear alot from you guys.

After the trans i plan on putting at least 9 inches of lift under it, sitting on 40" boggers. Going to 4:56 gears and lockers in front and rear.

New member, journalist, needs your help

My name is Rich Truesdell and I am the editor of Chevy Enthusiast, a new title from Amos Automotive, publishers of Corvette Enthusiast and Cars & Parts. It's so new that the digital version of the first issue was posted today. You can access the first issue at tinyurl.com/ChE-login. The print version of this monthly magazine will debut next week at the SEMA Show and we be publishing the first week of each month to follow.

In issue two, which I am finishing up, we will be publishing a 1969-1972 K5 Blazer Buyer's Guide and I am looking for publication-quality, high-res images of stock or stock-appearing early K5 Blazers. If you have a Blazer and it falls into this category I invite you to submit photos of your rig to me directly at cheeditor (at) amosautomotive dot com.

I hope to start reviewing photos of early Blazers as soon as they are submitted.

Hello fellow chevy folks. My name is Ronnie, I just bought a 70' K5,and would like to make it a part of the family. I'm a 38 yr old, lifetime circle tracker, looking to change things up a bit. So this whole experience of putting window's "IN" a ride is kinda diffrent for me! Looking foward to meeting new people, with new ideas and views. My parents bought a 79' K5 brand new, when I was a kid, and I've been a blazer fan ever since. All the resto tips I can get will be greatly appriciated, THANX in advance. Ronnie Tilley

Hello.....

Whats up Guys.....

Just stoppin by to see what you all are up to and to gather up some information that I can use for my 1969 Ford Crew cab/Cummins build. Specifically searching threads dealing with link suspensions and such... Some of you diesel enthusiasts might have caught my build thread on some of the diesel forums.

Wanted to go with a four link + panhard, but not really liking the limitations that the truck was dictating.... mostly due to some 11 inches of lift (hard to get the roll axis down) and the binding in un-equal length arms. RA's would be practical, but just don't have any WOW factor, whatever that means... so I'm looking into the 3-link option with about 20* on the lowers to bring the RA down. I'm actually going to model the set up in 3/8th scale to check out a few things before finalizing anything.

I will be using 16" FOA coilovers (dual rate) with Ballistic Joints on axle side and Ballistic Bushings on frame side. Links are 2"x.250" DOM lowers and for a single top I will be going a bit larger for a little SF!

The rear will get a triangulated 4-link for sure....

The truck itself should hit around 650HP and 1300 lb/ft on fuel only. I built the twin (compound) turbo piping and mounts, ported the head, running studs top and bottom, PDR cam, Fluidampner, Southbend 3600# Double Disc, NV4500, NV271, tweaked injection pump, NOS, water/meth as needed.... High pinion D60 up front and D80 with disc brake conversion out back... ok enough of that ;)

Anyway... back to the research! And a few pics for ya.. even if its a FORD. :D

NEVERMIND (15 posts to post pics)

i'm larry, from part of the area wishing to become known as the State of Jefferson. i'm in the mountains outside of redding, CA..

i have an '82 blazer i'm working on building. it runs, but needs help. it's currently non-op'ed for smog reasons.

i have a pretty solid 383 (AFR heads, full roller valve train, etc) i built for my '95 chev 1500 P/U, but i have decided to put it in the blazer. i also have a 14 bolt rear end, 4L80E, and modified OEM computer that is also getting taken from the truck parts collection to be used in the blazer instead.

i have 1/2 mile of private gravel road to get to the house i bought a few years ago. the winter snow can be a PITA for my 2 WD truck, so i did a trade with one of my friends for the blazer. he was wanting to sell it, but he was also wanting to put a complete audio system in his ext cab dodge truck. something that the kids could plug the audio portion of their portable DVD player and head rest monitors into. so i got all the equip from a friends shop i occasionally help at on the side and did a full on install for him. speakers all 4 doors (including modifying to fit the beefier mids), amps, subs and box under rear seat, and HU.

he's happy, his wife and kids love the system, and i'm more than happy with what i got out of the deal.

great vehicle. about spin a circle around a dime with the turning radius, plenty of cabin room, can tow with it, a good solid built machine. i like it way better than the wifes chev ex cab 4 WD truck.

i'll definitely be needing to tap resources here for where to find some parts i need for the modifications of the build.

between the 48 to 84 hour work weeks and 12 units in school this semester..... it's hard to find time to stop and poop, let alone wipe my rear end! so the build is coming slowly.

New to the forums

I've been reading the forums for awhile, finally decided to dive in. i have a 1986 k5 blazer... pics to follow.

Me and my dad did all the work to it for the most part. 4 inch Rough Country Lift, 35x12.50 BFG Mud Terrains, dual Flowmasters, new floor, rebuilt tranny, 2 12 inch Kenwood subs, Pioneer speakers, Pioneer head unit, an Alpine amp and a Kenwood amp.
