Introductions & Greetings

Yet another newb...

Howdy, I'm not a Blazer owner, but recently got the bug. I've been a Jeep fanatic for nearly 20 years and have got "the Jeep thing" down. So I'm looking at the Blazer as a new platform to build a rock crawler out of. So I'm here to get learned up! :D

New to posting

Hey everyone, Josh here. Been a member for a while, just haven't got around to posting. After getting rid of my 87 k20HD after high school, I finally acquired an 89 GMC Jimmy for $500. Fired right up, no smoke, front clip was great, (compared to others in Michigan) power everything, even air. Unfortunately, by the time I drove it 30 miles home, the drivers seat fell all the way through. It was at this point I discovered unrepairable body rot. I have since acquired a 91 K5 Silverado, and used the drivetrain from the 89 in this project. Just want to say thanks for a great site, it is definitely the best I have found. I'm from West Michigan by the way, and just wondering how many members are from my area.

Newbie (on these Forums)

I finally got round to posting today, been a registered member for a bit. Finnaly registered after visiting your web site for years.

Rides:

92 K1500 Blazer (I know its an IFS, but yah) daily driver some minor upgrades to boost engine perfomace. (I live in Cali, cant do much)

86 CD10156 aka Military Blazer 6.2 diesel, just got this one from Gov Liquidations. Runs great, but needs new springs. (putting 33s on it as we speak)

I am actually looking to buy my first K5. I have wanted one for years and am finally looking at picking one up. I actually think i might have found a good deal but its full time four wheel drive. I know nothing about the full time four wheel drive models, if there is problems with them or if they are just as reliable as the two wheel drive models. Im hopin someone can help me out!

Full time and part time

The full time is just as reliable. It's not a bad system and I have worked on and owned several for the past 16 years. My current daily driver is a 78 K5 and it has the full time system and is still working perfectly after 31 years of hard and loyal service and it is still all the original drive train. The full time just steers a little stiffer and handles a bit diffrent. But is still a great setup. Hope this helps and happy K5 hunting!
Thanks,
78 Bonanza

84 GMC Blazer winch /bumper off road/ custom built

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D

bumper for my sons 84 Blazer a new or used off road winch bumper anyone know where I can get one?

Hello all

Hello, my name is Gene and I have been looking around on this site for about a year. I love the garage, I have recently made some repairs to my 89 K5 that would have taken me all day execpt for the info I found there. I live in the Portland Or are and am looking to finish the truck and get it out into the woods.

The Blazer has new; engine, tranny, x - case, 3/4 ton axles, drivelines, paint and fuel sytem. Looking to add a TC ez ride 6" and some 36" swampers. Right now has a 4" old Rancho that rides like the frame is mounted to the axle itself. The new interior will be complete in another month as well.

the new guy

I am glad to find other people that share the same passion for trucks and the outdoors as I do. I moved to PA 8 years ago and acquired my project two years ago but with out the help of my friends who are all back in VA the project has cost me an arm and a leg and has been extremely frustrating. the reason for my frustration is that I live in a town house and although I have a garage I cannot do major mechanical work on the truck and find myself relying on 4x4 shops that a lot of times are cost prohibitive to say the least. I look forward to sharing info and tech with you guys and gals in the future. I hope to be on the road soon and maybe I will c--ya on the trail.

Currently shopping for a 80-87 3/4 ton 4x4 to replace my 2007 Jeep. I need a 4x4 that can tow a travel trailer. I have owned many Chevy trucks 73-86 being my fav.... hopefully I will have something to show soon..

Sup guys. Shopping for a "new" truck now. Been mostly looking at k5s and have been coming here to learn what I'm going to do with it and if what was done to the trucks I've seen is good or bad.

Hello everyone one, I'm from north TX. I have owned a 84 k-5 for 4 years now drove it for 6 months and the stock 305 went out bought a 99 suburaban. the blazer sat for nearly two years, spent one winter putting in new crate 350. Took it to the river once and now the transmission went out. found me a really nice beefed up tranny going to install next week. been working on camouflage paint for a month now. hope to have street legal again in next month. My forture are to install bout a 4" lift, some heavy duty bumpers winch on front and air in the back, rack on top of cab with lights, and a few engine mods including a snokel. I plan om this truck beening road ready for laking, hunting and some light off roading. I hope to get lots of ideas and help from you guys so holla. and how do you post pics

Welcome from another Texan building a multipurpose hunting rig. You've got 2 options with pics. Host them on another site like photobucket, and then insert them into your post. But, you have to get your post count up to 15 first so we know your not a spammer.

Or, become a paying member and attach them to your post. Either way works, but full membership is well worth the $25/year. Get busy and post some pics up, I'd like to see the camo.

Hey folks. a noob here introducing myself. Not a K5 owner (88' burban owner) but I've found the forums here very helpful in finding info on how to return my suburban to it's true form.

Hey thanks for the info. I'm still in primer mode but I well get some pics up shortly of my progress. I'm going with a dessart camo. It better suits the local areas around here. Hey that blazer with the camper is bad ass, never seen one before. You can go to myspace to check out my truck. look up cabinetdude

Hey there, new to the forum here. I'm 24, US army, from Texas but stationed in Hawaii. I am currently in Iraq, but at the very tail end of a year deployment. Will be on a plane back to Hawaii in a little under 2 weeks.

I currently own 2 k5s; One an ex-military '84 M1009 CUCV converted from it's original 6.2l diesel to a carb'd 350. 6" Suspension lift with 35" swampers. The other is (as far as I can tell) a bone stock '87 GMC Jimmy, 350 TBI that my wife bought for me and is sitting in the driveway waiting for me when I get home. Apparently the '87 was single-owned by a (now) 50-60 year old woman, and looks nearly as good as it did when it rolled off the lot, minus some common rust.

My plan when I get home is to get the '87 up to par with my '84, ideally, skeletonizing the '84 for parts. I've saved alot of money while deployed, and was hoping to get some help here with some good ideas from other k5 lovers.

so far I have enjoied this site, just found it the other day. Hey I started a tread called " camo has anyone done it" in the garage. made be you can post me some pics of tha real thing in there to help me out on my quest. what part of
tx you from. Thanks for fighting for my freedom.

Hey Jeremy, I just looked at craigslist toronto, couldn't find any blazers, but there is someone selling a '91 jimmy k5 for $1500, looks like it's in good shape too and was posted on the 7th. Try searching for "jimmy full size" and you should pull it up. Good luck!

There are a few on kijiji. But I would really like a late 70's model.
