First K5

Hello everyone, name's Dan. I just picked up my first K5 Blazer from a tow yard. It was a forfeited impound and I got it real cheap. The interior is totally shot and I am in the process of rebuilding/replacing it. It has a strong 350 w/ 150,000 miles. It actually runs very well. The truck needs suspension work: bushings, balljoints, bearing, etc. I'm planning to have it complete before my son is born at the end of March. Good to meet ya.

New to CK5

hey all

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D
So, here i am, with absolutely no pics to post at this time of course, but hopefully you willget the idea.... here goes! :)
my blaze started out life as a 73 full top, I got it from a very good friend 10 years ago and it had a 4" rancho spring-block lift and 3/4 ton axles with 33" bias mud tires, yuck!
Now it's sittin on a hybrid version spring 4" rancho w/ 52" main leaf for the front In the rear is plain ol' 63" leaves, the frame is from a 90" 1 ton, which I shortened 6' at the rear and re-formed to have the similar angles to the blazer frame. I also boxed the frame with 3/16 plate full length, and substantially braced the gear box from previous breakage issues wheelbase is now 120" has a 60 in the front now and the 14 bolt is shaved and outfitted with disk brakes There is an arb in the front and a detroit in the rear, with 5.13 gears It is powered by a .040 over 454 with tbi and th 400/205 Pretty straight forward drrivetrain i spose...
The body is not though
narrowed 21" in front , 05" suzuki king quad headlights, comp cut rear quarters and narrowed 28" completely gutted panels to save some weight and the bottom has been boat sided 12" for some amazing clearance.. all riding on 44" boggers! lol! I'll get pics on here as soon as possible thanks for reading about my rig

Hello everyone, just picked up my latest project last night, an 86 K5 4x4. All in all it's in pretty good shape, little rust here and there, couple dings but nothing major. 350 freshly rebuilt (no bore), tranny rebuilt, new exhaust front to back. Guy I got it from was getting ready to turn it into a crawler, just got interested in ATV's instead so I traded him one of mine. I look forward to learning a lot from here, haven't done a project in quite some time so excuse me if I seem like a noob.

New guy here. Unfortunatly no k5. Wish i had one. Currently have a 05 rubicon and a 98 k-1500. IFS lift for the loss. Would like to sell the jeep and sfa the 98. :)

72 blazer

Hey there my name is Brian Sturgis and I have a 72' chevy K5 blazer. Ive been working on it for the past 4 years and have made some major progress. Small block 350 with upgraded intake, carb and headers. Full custon roll cage, 4 point harnesses with race seats. Bypass FOA shocks, on board air compressor and full stero system. I am having trouble with my drive shaft and what to up grade. I keep blowing u joints like its nothing. If anybody could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have a lift ? If so, how much? Check your driveline angles. Too much angle and you'll blow u-joints. Also, are your drive shafts balanced? Loose pinion's ? Too much power, the way you drive? Are you trying to do burn outs on pavement? Ect. Ect. Ect.

Big Bad Wolf Racing

I've been into mud racing for 8 years now and am interested in building a trail rig. Have found lots of good tech on here over the years and finally decided to join. Starting with 88 blazer, plans include 60/14rears, th400 203/205, 52/63in leafs, and exo cage. Need info on tuning the tbi fuel injection. Can't wait to get started thanks in advance for the help.

My name is Rob, I am the new owner of an almost fully restored and modified 1986 K5. I am in the Marine Corps, currently stationed in Waco, Texas. I think i deserve a truck like this after my last nightmare with my 74 K10, its a monster and really expensive to keep up, so i opted to sell it and my Harley Davidson to get my new K5 and i couldnt be happier.
