Introductions & Greetings

Hey

Hey guys, I'm Krys. I live in Sacramento, CA. I currently have a 1983 K5 Diesel. She is my little beast, Bellatrix. She is bone stock from what I can tell, she's actually missing a few things (a/c evap, coolant res, etc) but its all minor. The only thing aftermarket on her is the radio. Her tranny was just rebuilt in Apr 2011 and she's going strong. I am looking to learn a lot more about her, how to properly get her ready for on and off roading. She is my only vehicle so I dont want to make her TOO ridiculous to drive on city roads.

Finally Got A K5

Hello All, I have been creeping around here for a little bit, I have a wanted to get a K5 for years and years, since my dad was in the military and drove one every day. Now I have one and have just started to get it running so no mods as of yet, but you guys have given me plenty of ideas so thank you all for that.

Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I just bought myself a '78 K10 SWB and I love it so far. I joined the site to learn a few things, ask a few questions, and check out everyone else's rigs. The K10 is mostly stock right now, but I will be making a build thread as I intend to turn it into a wheeler!

Hello from Boulder CO/ Austin TX

Hi, just decided to register because I'm done lurking! Bought my 1983 Chevy K5 blazer just over Christmas break for 1000 and a little trade

Right now it is at my father's house in Bastrop and I am at college at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Once school lets out I'm going to get started on my K5 resto-mod project but before I spend any money, I thought it prudent to make the great advice and knowledge on the CK5 forums available to myself. Once summer gets closer I'll probably start posting threads asking questions. A few things are on my mind; a transmission swap, body work, new wheels and tires, paint, underhood housekeeping (power steering pump, carb tune, ignition) and lastly interior and audio. For now I'm going to do some more searching and self education.

Hello

Hey everyone! I just bought a 1991 K5 which I have always wanted. She's a beautiful truck and didn't break the bank either. I would consider her a steal. Anyway I joined because I figured this would be the best place for some help on simple things and difficult things that I KNOW she needs fixed. It's a Penn. truck from 1991 and she doesn't look aged as some others you find for sale around my area. :waytogo: I would believe she the last of her kind and I tend to keep her forever. I will post a picture when I can. She's the latest edition to our Tahoe family and I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can redo the interior.

Hello from San Diego

Hello. My name is Matt and I currently own an '85 Jimmy Sub 4x4 with the 6.2, '81 G30 4x4 with a 453T Detroit, and an '82 C20 with the diesel. I love them all and am looking forward to reading about what others own and enjoy. Thanks.

Hey everyone, I am a native Coloradan living near Houston TX. I grew up making fun of flat landers so I really struggle living here where the tallest point around is a bridge or overpass. Anyway, I am the proud owner of an 87 blazer. My dad owned it since about 93. I got it when I turned 16, jacked it up and spent my life savings on some steel crawler wheels and 37 inch goodyear wrangler mtr's. I was really into off roading until I went to college, got married, had a baby, got a job and became poor. Now I sit here in TX wishing I was back home building and wheeling my rig.
Custom mods:
-4 point roll cage that doubles as my air tank with compressor under the hood and connection nipples on either side
-custom bikini top
-front warn bumper (with no winch)
-rear wheel spacers
-headers with 3" exhaust that dumps right before the rear end

Next Upgrades:
-14 bolt ff welded or otherwise locked up
-dana 60 up front
-shackle flip from ORD so I can loose the blocks
-39" creepy crawlers
-beadlocks
-6 pt roll cage
-narrow the front and bob the rear

...just to name a few. Excited to be part of the forums.

Thought i was a member before, but i guess not.

Hi, Ralf Krestel here. I'm 31 and live in Reading, PA. I've been driving GM's for 15 years now, and I have a 72 Blazer, which i've owned for 7 years now. Used to have an inspection connection, and was just able to "buy" a sticker for $20. But when that guy lost his job, i had to park the K5 because the rockers were rusted so bad. Well, that was almost 5 years ago that she was parked, and the elements haven't helped the rust situation any. For the old girls 40th birthday, i'd like to finally get her back on the road, but i'm thoroughly puzzled as to where to find the sheet metal that i need, i need floors, rockers, rocker boxes, rear wheel well patches, inner and outer. It's alot, but i can't see getting rid of her. They're all too rare anymore, and i just wanna take that top off and do some cruising. :waytogo:

Welcome all in the last couple pages! You don't have to be from Colorado to enjoy this site. Plenty of good people here and lots of info for these trucks. So sit back and start searching/reading.

I see a few have opted to go straight to a paid membership. Good choice, as there is a whole lot more good info to be had.

I'm the new guy

Hey there just wanted to introduce myself. My names Randy and I am a lover of chevys. My first rig was a 74 SWB with a built 400. Some day I'd like to track it down and get it back. Since then I have owned an 87 Burb, and my favorite, a 66 Panel sitting on 39.5 TSLs. I currently have an 89 V2500 Burb that I bought for $1150 and done very little to it really. This last summer It hauled me and the fam to AK and back without any problems. My goal as far as trucks go right now is to find a clean Crew Cab to buy asap. There have been a few nice ones recently but I was waiting for my tax return and now they have all but vanished. My long term goal is to do a 12V swap in the Crew Cab. I have a friend with a 12V in his fully built (heavy) K5 and he was getting 20 MPG with 410s and could beat his brothers built WRX in the quarter. He now has 355s and gets 25mpg on the highway and the WRX only gets him by a length. Im hoping to get 20mpg in a crew. I have found there is a lot of helpful info on this site for doing this swap.:waytogo: I've been doing a lil research into the 12V swap for a few weeks now and have LOTS! more to learn as I have never dealt with Diesels other than driving the crap out of my 2003 DMax. Thanks to those of you who have posted the 12V info on here. I hope to put it to good use.

Hello all

Hello, my name is Craig and I live in Clinton, OH. I own a 1984 Chevy K5 Blazer and a 1986 GMC Jimmy Full Size. The '84 is now currently being restored but not a factory restoration. It currently has for a motor is a BB 454 with a Holley carb and a Erson racing cam. Behind that it did have a Turbo 350 tranny but upgraded to a 700r4 with a 208 transfer case. The suspension it has is a 6" skyjacker lift with no blocks. Stock 12 bolt rear end with stock 3.08 gears. The tires are the new 33x12.50x15 Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracs.

Hey, im Corey. I live in South GA. I have an '84 Jimmy diesel that has been swapped to the m1009 non-emission motor. somewhere around 6" lift I think. 33" ATs. Got the truck about 6 months ago, and finally have everything in good running condition. ready to raise it up a little higher, put some 1 ton axles, and some tires that dont look so tiny on it
