Introductions & Greetings

Howdy, from Northern Virginia. I've been lurking on the site for years, but since I didn't own a Chevrolet, I used the forum for 6.2L diesel information and general research.

I bought a well-used 1989 Suburban R1500 (4x2), with the 6.2L diesel and 700R transmission. I bought it with the intent of swapping the motor/tranny to an '83 Land Cruiser wagon. But since the 'ol 'Burb rides so well, I have just kept it as a daily driver (carpool party barge!)

new from central Ohio

New from central Ohio. I'm no stranger to the automotive hobby and working on cars (have owned/built over 23 classic cars), but I recently purchased a 1974 K5 to have a little fun with this summer. It is relatively stock witha couple modifications. Has a 4" lift and SmittyBuilt bumpers, has mudder tires and aluminum wheels too. I'm not all that big on the lift and plan to modify the truck to my tastes.

Truck is bright yellow with black bumpers, Hence the name "BumbleBeast"...like bumble bee get it? haha.

I'm near Columbus. Looking forward to learning more about these trucks. Thanks.

Far far away

Hey guys, after a long absence I am back. I made some friends on the boards then and hope to continue them now. I sold my 91 K5 when my job changed and i had to drive 100+ miles to work. Not really great with 3$ a gal gas. LOL But i have replaced it with another 91 K5... but this time i am not in my native Arkansas... I am in Kuwait. I am hoping to find a soft top for it. I will post some pix later on .. just was anxious to get back here and catch up on my reading !!!! Stay safe. Den

Hey all, I am the newest new guy. I have been driving Chevies for years and I am looking to do an old Suburban build. Glad I found the place.

Hello to all. My name is ryan. I own a 90 v10 (i love saying that cuz people ask me of it has a v10 engine) its got a 383 tbi. Heads cam all the good stuff. Built 700r4. Np241 t-case corp. 10s front and rear.( hopefully will be relpace by danas soon) 6inch lift. 35x12.5 bfg mud terrains on weld rims.

Its a solid-ish truck. I bought it 2 months ago. It was sitting for a year suprisingly there is no rust on it here. And thats hard to do in chicago. Any who it needs manual hubs ( the autos gotta go) shocks and other minor parts.

Im glad i stumbled across this site and will most likely be doing the $25 membership. I just wanna try before i buy.

A little about me now im 25 have been a gear head since birth. My father and grand father tought me more than any school could. All the newr cars ive learned through work. I work at lexus as a mechanic. I live in the north west suburbs of chicago. And as far as i know im the only k5 in this area!!!
I hope to gain knowlage and give it as well on this site. Thanks to all and ill see you out there! Ryan

I don't want a pony

Damn it, I'm a newbie again... Curses.

But, after two transmissions I'm done with Dodges (sorta).

My name is not rellevant, my people are probably to blame for everything, and I wear a size 11 shoe unless of course you count the few times I wear my hooker boots, then they're size 13s. Wait, shat, I didn't uh...

Additionall, I have recently re-aquired a square boddied beauty in the form of a 88 Burb. What I needed to know was if the frames are different on 2wd and 4wd vehicles (without the obvious of suspension mounts, etc).

I'm trying to make it a Lil more mpg friendly however i do like to play in the mud snow and sand . I'm working on ideals to get the best mph out her that i can . almost everything is stock right now. i just got a k&n air charger. i am looking to drop the size of tires it is siting on a tad or at least get some that aint as wide . currently it is siting on 33x12.5 15. i have heard about tuners that you can get however i have yet to see one for a truck older then 96 . if anybody knows let me know . my first goal is get it tuned up and running good and also get as much as i can for mpg . i have to drive it from North Carolina to Colorado when i get home and i don't want to spend all my money on gas lol. if any body has any ideals on what i can do to better the mileage please let me know I'm good at making use gas but not to great at saving . i heard on the news the back in the states by memorial day gas is spost to be 0ver $4 a gallon. i hope not . no matter what I'm keeping my truck one it is American made and second it is old so i know i can work on it .
