Introductions & Greetings

Hi Alex. Carpet is a pain. You can spray liner yourself or take it to a shop. A buddy had his whole rig rhino lined recently for 600 bucks.

Regarding the tailgate, is it an aftermarket plate? I'd assume you can just pull a few bolts and check it out. At least to look for the reason that the previous owner covered it up.

First thing you'll learn around here is just to jump in and do it.

... You can do eet! (Adam sander movie inspiration)

;)

Good luck and welcome!

Hi, I'm Alex and I have a 1990 5.7L 4x4 chevy k5 blazer. It has a custom bumper with an 8000 lb warn winch and blazer baja offroad lights on it. The first two questions I have are: 1) is it a good idea to replace the carpet with bedliner and how much will it cost to do myself. 2) how hard is it to remove the silver plate on the tailgate and is there any extra maitenence involved once you remove it. Thank you!

The tailgate plate is factory trim and it comes off easily as it bolts on. The downside will be the holes left once removed.

Where are you in Alabama? There's several members spread around the state, about 5 or 6 here in Mobile.

Hello everyone, my name is Jansen Odineal and i recently purchased a 83 K5 Silverado. I am in the processs of putting on a four in lift with 37in Iroks. I know i will have to clip the fenders or go with a body lift also. Does anyone have any suggestions on how much body lift to make sure i dont rub the wheel wells?

I have a 383 with 35 mud terrains. what gear ratio you guys recommend?

What trans? Most likely the asnwer will be 4.56s. But this is dependant on what trans you have.

No body lift. Trim the fenders instead. Keeps the COG lower.

Keep in mind that tech questions should be asked in "The Garage" for best results. You may need a few posts before you can start your own thread.

Alright, another local CK5'er! You need 5+ posts for pics, pad away and post up some pics of the new truck. Welcome aboard! :thumb:

Hey everyone I am 18 currently a senior at Holton High and I am also the current owner of a 1985 K5 Blazer. It has a 6 inch lift and 35's for tires. I recently found out the motor is not the motor that came in the truck originally. But is a 350 which has been upped to a 383. I love it and I've loved all the older chevy trucks. I used to own a newer one and traded to the 80's because I love these body styles. Any time I've looked for info I've always come to this forum now I'm part of it I'm hoping if i have any questions I could gain some help thanks!

So after much reading on this site. I thought id ask what yall would pay for the rig im looking at. It's virtually rust free except for minor rust on the tailgate hinges. The paint is faded but not terrible the windows are electric and sluggish and he only has the ignition key not the doors.

It's a 1983 k5, 6.2l diesel, 156,000 miles, so so tires starts right away but has an injector leak between where the tube and injector meet. I'm taking it to a mechanic for inspection tomorrow morning. If all that is wrong is the injector leak should i drop $2500? or is that too high?

thanks.
Brian

Hi all, I have been trolling this site doing my LS Swap lately and decided i should join. I have a 87' Suburban 1/2 Ton that i am in the process of swapping a 5.3/700r4 into right now. The 350 was all sludged up and was already a transplanted motor with a bunch of miles when i bought it. I have already installed a 6" lift, 37 Military Goodyears on Pro Comp Steels,14FF rear,Dana 44 front. Going 4.88's soon after the swap when more money comes into play! This swap is nickel and diming me as usual!

You need to ask this question in the garage. Much higher traffic area and you will get a lot of input from those who have owned what you are looking at and will point out exactly what else to look for, what to expect, and how much it could be worth.

Hey, I'm Chris, and I'm from Maple Ridge BC. I just purchased a 76 K5 4x4. It needs a little love but the tub is in great shape where it usually rots out. It's going to be my fishing/camping machine and is going to stay basically stock.
I would post a pic, but it says I need 5 posts to do so.

New "Burban Owner!

Hey Everyone,

Name is Brian,From San Bernardino, CA. I just got a nicely used 1991 Suburban 4x4 for my small but growing family! I am excited to start the k5 adventures! This is my first Large SUV let alone 4x4. She needs some minor work, but i have spent the greater part of a week cleaning and fixing up this BEAST of a vehicle! Junk yards are godsends for these vehicles! I have lots of plans for this Suburban! i have gotten most of the big dents out, and i found that turtle wax color restore wax works wonder for the paint, I have no delusions of making this thing look showroom new. just a few modifications here and there, and full function of all parts!

thanks! I appreciate it. this is during its first wash, so of course things look better when wet! haha! need to clean up the body trim as it is yellowed and cracking looks rusty, need to remove some rust from the Hubs and rims, and i am going to coat the black portions of the front grill with black rhino/bed liner. I may also bed liner the rocker panels as well. As for interior, it is what it is, bought it with a new head liner, carpet and new upholstery, otherwise all stock, i want to replace the dash bulbs and add a basic sub and amp.
