Introductions & Greetings

Hey guys!

New one here from MA. I have had my 1990 K5 now for about a month. Loving every minute of it.

I have a 1990 (body has 211xxx) with a new crate 350. The Crate is paired up with a new 700r4 and np241c Transfew Case.

She currently has a 4inch Rough Country lift on it, with 33x12.5x15 Mickey Thompson Bajas. I want something a little higher myself. Probably going to put a couple blocks in and move the tire size up to 35' or so.

And because I am new, I will of course be putting a couple pictures up (after I get a photobucket account)... However, Can someone point me in the direction to ask a couple questions? 1 being: I just ordered the window seal kit for the front windows from LMC truck... I cant figure out how to seperate the inside of the door/outside shell to feed it all the way down... Im an idiot I know :) haha

Thanks guys and I look forward to being a member!

Newb - Hello from Arizona!

Hi all!

Recently purchased a 1987 stock K5 and gathering my parts list for upgrades.

I'm primarily going to use it as a hunting/fishing/outdoor rig. She has 31's w/ fairly new 350TBI, fairly recently rebuilt NP208, currently being rebuilt 700R4 on dual Corporate 10 bolts. Some changes/upgrades I'm making...

-HD Bumpers front and rear w/ 12,000lb winch and swing out tire carrier and led offroad lighting.
-BDS 2.5" springs front, block back and new shocks all around w/ steering stabilizer.
-New black out wheels and tires...thinking BFG KM2's with white lettering on outside.
-Rebuilt 700R4 w/ stronger "street kit" to beef it up a bit.
-Yukon Posi traction rear end w/ master rebuilt kit.
-Spartan front lunchbox style locker in front.
-Steering bracket/gear box reinforcement

Some things i'm thinking about....

-Bed liner in the interior and removing carpet
-going from 31's to 32's or 33's, but not sure how the 10 bolts will hold up to the stress.
-paint job....
-Remove Kill Switch...the PO installed a kill switch connected to a remote sensor on the key fob, but I am afraid of the battery going out when I am in the woods and I won't be able to start the darned thing!

Previously I had a 1976 CJ5 that I built to be a killer! Loved it, sold it and now on to a new toy. I have been lurking around this site and am anxious to meet you all and feed off your knowledge.

Thanks again!

Jason

Welcome to CK5! from another masshole!

You are talking about the interior door panel, right? 2 screws in the arm rest, 1 screw in each end of the door pull strap, 2 screws in the door handle, 4 screws along the bottom of the panel, unscrew lock knob, pull bottom of panel to release the clips, keep pulling all the way up the sides, the top is held in by the edge of the door panel, you need to kinda push the door panel towards the door while also pushing up on the panel to get it to let go. Kinda pull up on the panel while thumping the top of it with a closed fist, I don't know how else to describe it.

4" lift with 35s will work just fine in most cases, avoid using lift blocks if you can.

I have the plastic panel off. But there is no access to the inside of the door. (Or not enough I should say.

But that you very much for the welcome. I'll post some pics in the region and models forums. I do have an album on my profile but I'm on mobile now.

Thanks again!

Stick to "the garage" and the "73-91 K5 Sub Truck" threads for the best high traffic areas. Those are the most looked at and yield the best results for questions like that.

Paid up and posted 5!

hello

hello, I'm chad 28 years old, I live in welch ok, recently just got done helping my brother build his 82 k-5, did a 6" lift and the dana 44 front and 14 bolt rear with 36 military tires. Got his done now I have to have one!

new guy

i have been snooping around for years, i recently bought a k5 off a member. 89 full convertable conversion 350/700r4/241/d60/arb/14bff/detroit/42irok.

Reckon I'm the new guy, finally found a K5 I felt comfortable buying. Picked up a 82 that'd been sitting under a barn for most of its life (the truck was parked in 1990 and didn't move for quite a few years). Completely stock with a pretty pristine interior and a "Mema's Blazer" front tag, hoping that means for the past couple years its been babied by an old woman. Talking to the PO, it was parked in 1990 with ~30k miles and didnt move again until 2000 or so when his son did some work on it, drove it for a while and sold it.
Definitely needs some body work, but thats the fun part. Already have body lift, 3" cowl hood, phantom grill, new mirrors, taillights, headlights, etc ordered and hoping to really tear into it this weekend.

Hello ALL... Wiring diagram needed.

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D

Jersey Joe and son Wes signing in from Jersey... 1986 K-5 Blazer all stock and recently removed the hard top for the summer months. Softtopper out of CO has a nice product (now installed) and we look to continue improving on the body and extra amenities of our Blazer. Currently looking for wiring diagram for power window & locks. Anybody have a resource or pdf they could send us? We are swapping out the manual windows for the power set-up. Wiring harness resource just for windows would be nice too. Thanks.... and look forward to chatting again. Jersey Joe

hey

Doug, from Birmingham, AL

Have a 73' K5 Blazer project I am currently working on. Hopefully can put up a thread and show what I have done so far and plans for the future to finish it. Might need some help and suggestions on where to find parts I'm missing and also willing to help others with what I know.

Kevin from SW Washington,

I have a '72 K5 I bought 18 years ago as a Junior in High School. It only has 95.5K original miles. Orange with a white top, 350. It is all original. It's a little tired, but still runs pretty strong. Top is off right now for the summer.

I found this site months ago, lurked a few times, and just now decided to join. I am having trouble uploading pics to show off. I just washed it today after a day trip to the beach yesterday. Am I correct I need to pay the $25 to upload images? There are some nice looking rigs on this forum :waytogo:.

Regards,
Schmidty

Welcome,

You can upload pictures to photobucket and post links to them here without a membership, although I think you need 5 posts to post links (keeps spammers away)
