Introductions & Greetings

New to the site from MI's west side

Hi All, after lurking around for a few weeks gathering all the info I could, I decided to join the site as it has a ton of great info and seems to be great people.
My ride: bought a site-unseen 1987 K5 off of Craigslist, not running. It has a very slightly modified 355 (I have no idea what has been done to it), with insanely expensive JBA stainless steel headers, but they are shorties, who would spend that kind of money on shorty headers that don't get you the hp as full-length. All other drive train is stock, with the addition of 35's and a 4 inch lift.
I got it running; I could not connect with my scan tool or get any codes with the magic paperclip. Replaced the computer with a junk yard one and tossed in a couple new sensors, TPS (which the old was reading 1/2 throttle and a coolant sensor which was reading about 20 below. She runs like a champ now, though I'm not confident in it yet. I still have to sort out why the fuel pump is hot wired for always on when the key is on. There was probably a reason they did this, but I haven't found out why, so I'll leave the redneck wiring for now... but I'll fix it right soon.
It was rustier than I had hoped, but for a cheap price I really can't argue.

I want to get some body work done (replace the poorly replaced floors and fix crushed door) and "bedliner" the lower portion of the body. Ok, new exhaust wouldn't hurt either.

I just want to replace my lifted Cherokee to have room for the family and play on the dunes, however that thing has done me no wrong and holds the snowy roads awesomely (gotta love a pull of the lever and get either full time or part time 4x4). The K5 can barely get out of its own way on my snowy road and I live in suburbanite-ville.

Ok, that's enough rambling for now; maybe I'll post a build thread....
I probably won't meet many of you in person, maybe Dueling, as he is also in Muskegon and I see he posts a lot.

Later, Jeff

Lets hit up the dunes dude!! There's a few of us around here :thumb:

Where abouts a are you at in skee town?? I don't see many blazers around

That's about all this thing will be good for, well the occasional ride around town and pick up some heavy junk from Home Depot. All I've done is drive it around the neighborhood and annoy the old folks. The cop at the end of the street gave me a long look, maybe I should put plates on it soon!

I'm north of North Muskegon.

Glad to know there are others around with the same disease.:D

Haha sweet. You say it sucks on the snow? I loved mine on the snow, it was unstoppable. I won't drive it in winter anymore though. I don't want the rust.

Hey what color is your k5?

It is black with a black top, I was going to load a URL of a pic, but I need a couple more posts (so the pop-up told me).

Good morning, Terry here. I've recently purchased a '77 K20...it's a bit rough but should prove to be a good platform for doing some mods...

Hi, I'm new to CK5. I've just bought a K5 after having wanted one ever since
my dad sold his when i was in grade school. its a 91 with clean body except for
some minor floor pan work under the driver seat. 350 with 131000 on it at the moment. I will post pics as i progress through the build. I've done a search and
seen some really nice build ( the rears are saggin a bit) 35inch cooper disc stts on mickey classic iis. pretty basic, not a lot of bling. primarily using as dd/hunting/camping vehicle. has stock 3.73s. I will be deaing with that down
the road. any recommendations or dislikes here so far from anyone.

Hey everyone my name is Rich and this is actually my first time being a member and posting a intro, this site is just a great tool. A little about mine below:
I have a 1991 K5 Blazer with 88k true miles on it. It's a Scottsdale Model
with a 5.7 it has a SYE, 14bolt FF and Dana44 up from. Detroit locker in
the rear with a lock right up front ( not a big fan since its my DD ). I am
the 3rd owner the first two took incredible care of it, I even have the
orig window sticker it was bought from Stevinson Chevrolet, it has the ord
6inch kit and I am running 35"s KM2's. I am getting all the interior done since it is a scottsdale it has nothing and i mean nothing in it, it is going to be custom but I wanted it to stay as close as factory as I could.

I will post pics of big red tomorrow, anyways hope to learn a ton of stuff, this is my 4th K5, one FJ80 with factory lockers and lift, couple of 1st gen broncos and a couple of 1/2 ton trucks. The wife thinks I have issues but I say you knew it before you married me, suck it up.

New member. :D

Hello everyone! My name is Krissy and I made this account for my fiancee Travis and I to be able to connect with other Chevy lovers. ;D

I need to get a few more posts before I can put a picture of my baby (truck) but I will post one soon!

Yep. ;D

My (our) baby is a 1985 K5 Blazer. <3 We've got a 6" suspension lift, and a 3" body lift. 40" Mickey Thompson "Baja Belted" tires, it's either a dana 60 in the back or a corporate 14 (per the fiancee) and has a dana 44 in the front. And, a jeep style soft top instead of the standard blazer top. Yep. I love it. ;D

So, hi everyone!

We also have a lifted 1983 K5 Blazer, a stock 1992 GMC Suburban 4WD, and "my car" a 1999 Chevy Cavalier. :P

Hello Chevy lovers! I am Rob from North Texas. The biggest reason I wanted to join this forum was to gain knowledge for a Blazer build in my future. A friend of mine has an '86 Blazer he wants built. He doesn't really have a direction other than BIG with BIG tires. We have purchased a 1988 C30 with a big block that will motivate the beast, and will be purchasing an 1980 K20 to source the THM400/205 from it. I will leave some of the other details to the imagination, but I will leave it with this, he wants a 1 of a kind rig. Now to glean more knowledge!!!

Hello everyone

I'm Brad, from Tennessee but currently stationed in El Paso, TX. Just bought my first K5, 1977 with a 350/350. Hasn't had much done to it, but unfortunately it just broke down on me. I've been off road nearly all my life, and really excited to get my Blazer up and running again!

So... My name is Jesse James, I live in up state NY with my wife and son. I've been a Chevy/GM guy for as long as I can remember. I recently received an 81 k5 blazer on a trade deal. I've had it a couple months but done nothin with it. It currently has a GM/250 gasser with a smoked t/350 and I think a 208 t case. My goal is a total drive line swap. I'm lookin to put d44 front and rear with full locker in both ends, yank the 250 and drop a 350 4 bolt and an sm465/np205 combo in. I'm not lookin for a crawler just the most capable daily driver ever.
But I'm lookin at a complete floor replace, fenders and doors. The wiring is a joke and will need replaced, as will the tail gate.
Basicly I have a starting place for a good project truck. As it is now I'm collecting parts and waiting for the snow to melt so I can get to it.
I'm a truck driver I'm not able to do as much as fast as I want, but it will get done. As y'all know it's not easy balancing home time and garage time. I've already been all over the site and am suckin in knowledge like a sponge.
