Hello!

Hello everyone, I'm new to CK5 but not really that new to K5s. My dad had a 79 Blazer for 15 years, I learned to drive/hunt/fish out of that old truck and came to love the old blazers, sadly a little over a year ago my dad sold it and I was between jobs at the time and could not save her and he sold it. It was a sad day for me as the truck had a lot of sentimental value to me. The love for the old blazers stayed with me, then back in early February I had saved enough money to start looking for my first truck. I really wanted an old blazer but my dad talked me into buying something newer and I bought a 98 z71 pickup, It did what i needed too but it was not what I really wanted. Then one day heading into work one Saturday I got rear ended by a lady that was texting... After only having the truck for 2 1/2 months it got totaled, I was pissed! Their insurance gave me run around for a month and finally paid me(in that time I missed out on a beautiful 88 k5, that made me even more mad) But finally last weekend I found an 89 Blazer in great shape and I bought it! I am so happy to finally have a Blazer again.

What up everybody well like all new members here i am well my name is Chris and im from hell waiting room AZ lol well im just here to learn and get ideas of what i can do to my 1988 Chevy Suburban I bought it cause i needed the room and something i can take out to the desert and have a lil fun,camping,plinking, etc... So i hope all is good i will post pics and questions soon thanks to all in advance :laugh:
 
Hello and welcome to everyone who has joined up recently! CK5 truly is the best K5 and really overall full size chevy forum out there for our niche of year model rigs. There's a wealth of knowledge in every aspect, and what really sets us apart is that lack of BS/nonsense some other places can have on forums.

Just about any questions you might have are here somewhere if you use the search function. I myself prefer to use google to search CK5, it's a bit faster and better IMO, but I'm sure 99.9% has already been discussed.

Hello every one. yep im new here. my name is Phil, im on the ne side of san antonio. i have an 87 k5. its basicaly stock. it has the 350.... same old stuff. one cool feature is it has duel batteries. the speedo says it has 75000 miles, the speedo is about 5 mph off. this is a cool site ive been lurking for some time now, thought i should throw my hat into the ring. its a dd/play toy. thanks.

Hey, everybody. I just joined your forum and I'm looking forward to learning from others and sharing what I know. I just bought an 88 Jimmy project that needs a bunch of work. It runs, but it needs a clutch, an exhaust system, and some other stuff. It's ugly, but it's just meant to be an off-road beater.

This is my second K5 (had a '74 years ago) and about my tenth Chevy 4x4, so I'm no stranger to these things. So, hopefully I can help out a little too. :D

What's the story with the 74? How'd you get it and what happened to it and how did you like it?

I bought it in 1988 after selling my Nissan (I lost my mind for a couple of years, lol) and drove it for a few years before selling it to buy a Suburban. I loved the Blazer and I've pretty much been wanting another one ever since I sold it. It was mildly modified with a 4" lift, 36" tires, and a 383 stroker motor.

The current one also has a 4" lift (or that's what it looks like, at least) with 38" Boggers. Axles are still the 10-bolts (but with 4.56 gears and Auburn limited-slips), so they're going to be among the first things changed out (at least the rear. I may keep the front and just build it up a little).

So what was your number one complaint with it when you sold it? The top?
I would imagine that dealing with the top is a big deal if it is your daily driver...I haven't had mine running long enough to find out yet...maybe by late august I will have it back home....
 
I really had no complaints with it. The top was in pretty good shape and didn't leak or anything. I was just looking for something bigger to tow the race car I had at the time. Then, when I sold the race car and got into dirt biking, I sold the Suburban and bought an 85 Chevy 4x4 pickup.

Seriously, that 74 Blazer was the best vehicle I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to driving one again.
 
Hi all, new to the site - have never owned a Blazer (yet) but had a 91 Bronco I loved and my dad has had a '77 GMC Sierra Camper Special since I was a kid and it has all of 78,000 miles on it. Just sold my G8 GXP and looking for a fun truck. Looking forward to participating!
 
Hello, Newbie here from Thornton,CO. Project is going to be a 85 K5 Blazer. Will post some picts and additional info soon. Also have a 94 Blazer as my everyday driver.
 
Hey I am new to the ck1500 world and I am glad I found this forum. My name is Henk and I live in Colorado springs. I am a junior mechanical engineering student and I am here to learn how to make the best out of my 1991 chevy c1500 with 350 engine which right now might be blown but if it is I know that I can get all the necessary information from this place in addition to my chelton manual to make it run again. I hope to get to know some of you guys and like you, I am here to serve you guys as well. :)
 
I'm new to the forum. I used to be a big jeep guy but everybody has one so I wanted something different. I just bought an 85 k5 blazer last week and I'm loving it. 305 10 bolt front and rear.

hello all, new guy here. from rock springs , wy . picked up a full size blazer about 2 weeks ago from the local nissan dealership. i have always wanted one, just never had an opportunity till now to pick one up. have not done much to it yet. drove it home from the lot found cylinder #1, and 3 plug wires burnt through on the header so i replaced them. fixed a stripped out bolt on distributor cap and a vacuum leak that had it idle'n very high and now its running damn good. threw in a catterpillar cd player so i have some tunes while driving. just a few things i noticed that were already done on it; full length headers (not sure what brand) magna flow exhuast , chrome vc and water neck. front end has new polyurethane bushings and its sitting on 35"s. here is a couple pics
 
Was told by ltusa that this was the place to come for blazer questions, might need to do an engine rebuilt but I don't want to have to if I don't have to, I have a weird clicking noise that is directly related to my rpms, it's not clunky just like clicking. I have an extreeeeme loss I power than I used to have, it's a 1990 v8 sitting on 36s btw, if I could have some wisdom on what to check or do that would be amaaaaazing

make 5 posts quickly and post in the Garage...somebody will answer...I guessing a valve problem...but that's just a guess..
