Introductions & Greetings

I'm sure I will eventually put a 2" or 4" lift with either 33's or 35's put it will stay like this for a while. Also I will keep the stock wheels no matter what I do, I love them.

if I ever own a second K5 I will venture into lifting maybe...but for my first one I want it to be a clean example of what a stock 1974 looks like...preservation of the K5 heritage of sorts...and my favorite film...

Was told by ltusa that this was the place to come for blazer questions, might need to do an engine rebuilt but I don't want to have to if I don't have to, I have a weird clicking noise that is directly related to my rpms, it's not clunky just like clicking. I have an extreeeeme loss I power than I used to have, it's a 1990 v8 sitting on 36s btw, if I could have some wisdom on what to check or do that would be amaaaaazing

Ticking noise related to RPM....I can think of a few:
Rotor Cap (if applicable)
Valves
Spark Plug Wire grounding out somewhere

Hello from New Mexico!

Name is Tim, married with 2 kids. I have been a mechanic/welder for years. I make my living working on 240 ton diesel-electric haul trucks at a coal mine in NW NM. I have an 86 K10 Silverado LWB that I have had since '01. I ran it forever with a basic Rancho 4" lift and 350 sbc before i finally decided to get serious with it. It is currently in the middle of being upgraded. Put in a 5.3L Vortec from an '01, 700R4 with shift kit, 208, 10 bolt front, 14FF with Detroit Locker, 64's and a shackle flip in the rear. 3.73's all around, but it will be getting 4.88's and crossover strg when I finally find a D60. Rolling on 35" Dick Cepek FCII's, but are going to be replaced with 37's soon. The list of future upgrades seems endless!

Other toys include a '91 S10 SWB 2WD with a 350 SBC (runs 12's at ABQ Dragway), '10 Ram 2500 Cummins, '11 Harley V-Rod Muscle, 08 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i.

I absolutely love my K10, I grew up around the truck when my uncle owned it. I earned it as a graduation present in 2001. It was all stock with the wheezing 305 back then, but it has been continually modified ever since. Odometer has rolled over twice.

Glad I finally came aboard. Been a lurker for a while, finally decided to join. The information and advice on here is first class, and I hope i can contribute.:thumb:

Howdy all, new to the site and doing my fist full size build (Moving from the jeep world). Looking forward to starting a build thread.

Well, I was looking forward to this site until it asked me for $25 to post in any threads but this one, lol. Guess I will have to find another forum that's free. Sucks cause this looks like a good site too.

Reread it, freebies can post in more than just this thread, you just couldn't access certain forums.

It wouldn't let me post in the tech forum. That's pretty much the main part of this site.

The garage and The driveway (build threads) are probably the highest traffic parts of this sight.

FWIW, the $25 fee is a small price to pay for all the info available, the good people to talk to (there is no BS here to deal with), and the wealth of experience with these trucks. At the very least, if you bought one of these old trucks and want to build it up or restore it, try out the membership for a year. Even if all you do is 1 year to gain whatever knowledge/advice you can, all you'll be out is $25. You could spend most of that on a Chilton book, and I think the help, experience and advice you get here will far exceed what's available in one of those books.

Alright, I'm done with my salesmans pitch. :haha: Not that I see any commision or anything either. :waytogo:

New guy from MD

Hello, I am a new guy checking in from Maryland. I am a long time fan of the K5, short term lurker of the forum, and I have loved the K5 as a kid growing up playing the illinois mud. Now I am an adult and am looking to find one. Looking for a fully convertible one, something I can play with but also satisfy the desire my wife has for a converible...WIN WIN!

Not sure how much I will have to add to anything, unless you have a questions about mountain biking, triathlons, rugby or whiskey, maybe a few other areas I know a little about.

Cheers,

Paul
