Introductions & Greetings

I live just outside Ashland. I have basically put my K5 back in good, solid driving condition. Got rid of the rust, body work as required and new paint. I am looking for the rear door operating mechanism. I have the handle, rods and latches but, I can't find the operating mechanism any where. Any suggestions?

Not many 1st Gens around here but I'll keep an eye out for one. You might see if LMCtruck.com has what you need.

New to here, mainly joined because I am in the process of fixing up my father in laws 87 k5. There is a chance I might own one here in a bit. Here's a pic of his which is consequently next to mine the whole time which happens to be a bronco (photo op for both I guess)

Only Pic I really have of his

newbie

Had a 77 k5 I ran off road outside Tucson. Sold back in1990. Had to have another one so picked another up for some fun and to keep busy. Haven't been off road yet. Living in SW Fla now and haven't found any good spots. Looking forward to learning and seeing new ideas on this forum. Glad your here. Have a lot of plans for this truck. Haven't figured out to post pics but will when I do.

Hello folks. I have a stock 83 k5 with a 305. I just purchased a 5.3/4l60e package that I will be installing. I know nothing about computer motors so this will be a new experience for me. I have built a few muscle cars so I'm no stranger to the mechanical work. You will see me posting questions very soon.

I should also mention that this is the fourth k5 I have owned. They have always had a special place with me.

Hey guys, new to the forums. Hoping to help out and gain some knowledge from one of the better K5 communities I've found online. Currently rebuilding a 1976 GMC Jimmy that gives me trouble from time to time. To put it into perspective I spent 800 bucks on the bohemoth and had to spend my first week of ownership welding the frame back together. Now to tackle the engine, which seems to have conflicting interests in hanging on to oil.....

Hey guys! I've been lurking here for quite a while but just finally signed up. I've got an 85 m1009 I've been slowly fixing up. Next on the list is painting it back to its original green.

(yes I know I'm at the wrong pump :doah:)

Hello!

Well, I have just jumped in to the whole K5 scene. Played a lot of trucks years ago in my Jeep phase and learned just enough to make sure I paid for most things twice! Anyway, I just picked up a 1986 K5 (carb'd 305) that is a little rough around the edges.

Planning on window motors first, needs rear U-joints soon, I might try to fix the left side of my exhaust manifold (still in the air on it, and may end up paying for a mechanic there), ripping out the moldy old carpet and adding some sort of liner, getting the AC compressor fixed (farming that one out to a real wrench turner!), and then cosmetic repairs as the wife allows.

I know how to use a search feature, but I am sure I will ask questions that will cause some of you to roll your eyes in the future. But, I'll try to keep those to a minimum.

Anyway, the battle has already been won, I got her to give in and let me buy the starting point! I can't wait to start the improvements.

New to forum

My name is Thomas and live in Upstate, NY. My wife and I moved to NY almost a year ago from NC with our three boys. I work in Afghanistan and have been looking for the past few months for a K5 since she claims the Z71 I had to get something else lol. I recently purchased an 89' K5, 350, 8" lift with 37's. Super clean and canno't wait to get home and start workin on it. Look forward to posting progress and getting help from all of you veterans. Have only had 2 other 4wd vehicles before this, always went the other direction with my toys growing up so not up to speed on all the things involved in this even though I have friends down south that build them BIG!!

What's up

Hey my names Jake and I just bought a 79 k5 blazer. It needs some work and I hope this site can help.

Nice ride.

I couldnt tell what pump you were at. Besides, you could be getting something to drink and enjoying the shade.

Checking in... Greg in Grand Junction, CO. I work for the Union Pacific RR and love exploring the desert & mountains in my 4x4 or on motorcycle. I started a 4x4 forum for the Utah area many years ago, www.rme4x4.com (it was originally rockymountainextreme.com, but that was a looooong name, so we changed it. ;) )

I hate to say I, but the main reason I joined is to list my '98 GMC for sale... :frown1: It's an awesome truck and I pulled out all the stops on the build... used a lot of ORD parts, re-did the interior, etc.

I'll be posting an official for sale thread soon, but in the meantime, here's some pics...

Thanks!

Exactly what happened, popped in to get a slurpee. Sometimes I do miss AC in this thing.

Another new member !!

Hey y'all mike here coming to y'all live from North Chesterfield, VA. I turn wrenches for a living for one of those big nationwide chains (don't really like it a lot but hey it's a job !!) In my off time I like to go fishing, take the 4 wheeler for a ride, go to a mud bog, and of course go wheel my trucks !! My daily driver is a little honda civic (hard to beat 35MPG). My blazer is an 84 with a 6.2 diesel, 4" lift, 33" trail grapplers, 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmasters, open filter element (desperately need a J code intake and some gear it's REALLY underpowered now!!) Used to drive the blazer everyday but got a smoking deal on the little honda. My play toy is a Frankenstein of a truck titled as a 78 Chevy 1/2 ton. Stepside bed 6" all spring lift, 3" body, ton axles, 4:56 gears, Detroit locker, 39" swampers, 355 small block, Bowtie heads, air gap intake, 650 double pumper, MSD ignition. Built primarily to run the mud but does see some trail use every now and then when I'm going to pull someone out (has a little too much converter to crawl on the trails !!) Pretty much all in all I'm just a good ole boy !! Looking forward to meeting new people here and seeing how things are done in different parts of the country. Ok I think this is long enough now. Time to end it. Take it easy y'all !!
