Hello and thanks for the add. I'm almost an old fart and my sixteen yr old is on his fourth vehicle and this time he bought a 1987 K5. He wants to partially restore and mod this beast of a truck. Previous owner did some mods. Installed newer model 350 has edelbrock 650 th350 and swapped np208 for a np203. Here's why I joined this crazy place. I'm looking for either a custom cross member or pics of how somebody else has done this set up. Its kinda southern ingenuity right now and I can't let the boy roin a POS....I can weld and fabricate with the best so no worries on my skill level, but I've learned from others peoples mistakes. And I like to do it the right way the first time. So if any info on this please get with me. And oh yeah I need a tailgate window switch.

You've come to the right place, but I don't quite understand what you're wanting. You say this drive train is already installed? What holds it in place at this point? What (specifically) is wrong with the stock cross-member?

I'm confident we can help if we know what you're wanting to do. Starting a new thread in the Garage section detailing your situation and need will get lots more people to see it (and increase your odds of getting a useful answer. Also, pictures are quite helpful.

Hi new member from Ontario, Canada. The blazer is still away for the winter. I picked it up last August. 1987 w/45000 miles originally from Connecticut imported up north here 18 months ago. Power everything including factory alarm. air assist springs and new BFGs. Only needed a LH ebrake cable to safety.

I'm totally infatuated with the K5 Blazer/Jimmy. I came home from the hospital in my parents early 70's Jimmy when I was born and I have a few good memories from when I was a wee little guy in that truck. Flash forward 30ish years.... I've got a little guy and had the urge to get a Sunday cruiser for the family to tour around in. Here it is.

Hi Guys Ive owned a few 3500s in my day but all were tow trucks so i nevvver played with them just made them reliable money makers but now I have a toy

1000 dollar hauler Guy smacked something with the front so when i picked it up it only had headlights hangings on so i bought a non running donor truck. to swap body panels and interior parts.

Swapped doors and front seats and front clip from 99 yukon
replaced 4x6s with 2-ways
deck
10 shallow phoenix gold.

short term goals:

Plasti-dip 2 tone to make it look better is short order

install my 22.5 alcoas from a bus If anyone is selling adapters i have CASH in hand pm me.

i want to get the alcoas turned down to run 22s but i cannot find a place in denver?? recommendations? im trying to avoid shipping them but it seems like the only solution.

Slight drop to compliment the Alcoa 2/3 dont want to slam it want to get in and just drive.

New to the group tho I've googled it & used the different threads advice all the time...I'm picking up a 72 this weekend & need a few parts (grille/front bumper) small stuff...I'm looking to make it a winner...pics as soon as I get it

I bought a '76 GMC Jimmy last summer Its been a plow truck for what i can tell most of its life. its got a good amount of rust and some pretty big carb issues.


So far, I spent a good amount of time looking for the turn signal to match the original plow lights so that took me through some swap meets.

installed the missing battery tray and the rusted support brace.

replaced the outer rockers, inner kick panel for the rockers, have the inner rocker installed on the passenger side. cab floor brace installed, floor pan is mostly welded in on the passenger side. winter came so that stopped my progress for finishing that and doing the rest to the drivers side.


I will have a bunch more to do but hopefully i will have time this summer.
