Just found the introduction thread, apparently I posted in the wrong place but here it is: Hey I'm new here, just checking in. A few friends & I wanted to find an affordable rig to take up to Lind, WA for some derby races. We settled on this stripped & rusted 1976 K5 & couldn't be happier since she's rough but ready. I'll likely be asking for advice, tips & plenty of bonehead questions so thought I'd introduce myself first!

She's stock 1976.. 350 & NP205, runs strong & drives well. We're prepping it for a very aggressive event & I'm already getting attached so any advice for how to make this survive & thrive will be much appreciated.

Here's a quick vid of the event so you get the idea:

Well the NP205 is not factory then. Some one swapped it in place of the NP203 at some point.

I misspoke then, I'm new to the rig & thought the NP205 came stock, it's likely the NP203 then. I'll be going through the rig next weekend to make sure everything is as it should be.

& I'm going to be racing her on a dirt track, demolition isn't the goal, but it's the realistic result. Most rigs get a few years with a decent driver, I hope to be so lucky.

Hello all! I figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Jake, and I live in Arkansas. I found this site via google, and seen that it had a lot of great info so I joined to take advantage and learn all I could. I recently bought my first K5 a couple months ago. My father had one as a toy when I was younger and I've always wanted once since the day he sold his. I finally made it happen. I bought a 1 owner 1978. It had a stock Goodwrench 350, 4 speed, brand new lift, wheels/tires, clutch, brakes, and a few other items. It's slowly getting freshened up as I have time. So far I've installed longtubes, removed the carpet to install spray in bedliner, removed exterior moldings, and fixed the few dents/dings it had. The plan is to beef the motor up some just to make it a little more fun, and clean up the interior/exterior, all while keeping it looking as original as possible.

Jake from State Farm? Probably haven't heard that one before. :D

Really nice looking truck. Does it have the NP203 with a part time kit, or some other transfer case? I don't know if the full time case was just an automatic thing.
