Introductions & Greetings

Hi, newb to fullsize Chevy restorations as of three years ago or so when I started a restomod 1986 M1008/K30. That one is nearly complete. I used to restore Land Cruisers but they became too expensive. The K30 now has a Duramax L5p/Allison 1000 followed by an NP205. ORD lift w/highsteer and crossover, running 37's. Way too much to list. Paint is now done and finishing up the interior. Just recently picked up a 1990 Jimmy. I overpaid but it's bone stock and completely rust-free. It will be a DD while I decide what to do next. In the meantime it needs just a little maintenance.
Pics?

When I try to upload .jpegs the site tells me it is not an image?
Can you email me the pic in question so I can look at it?

Hello i just purchased my 1st K5 Blazer. I ended up selling my 2014 FJ cruiser and purchased my Blazer last weekend. Its a 1975 K5 Blazer out in California. The prices on these things are ridiculously expensive now and im glad i found one. The blazer I bought is in pretty good shape. It runs and the paint is decent: the interior looks original too. It’s currently on a 3-4” lift I believe on 33 BFGs.. it’s currently painted in two toned white and metallic green. However i just found out today that the original color is actually Yuba gold. Gold is one of my favorite colors on classic cars especially on chevys like K5’s, camaros and chevelles. Im considering repainting it the original color.

Sounds cool, welcome to CK5.

'Evening!

So I've made a few posts already but figured I'd give a proper introduction here.

This is my first squarebody. We've always had a Chevy in the family in one form or another. First brand new truck was a 2005 Trailblazer - which I still have. Currently have a 2018 Traverse which the family loves.

I've been a long-time oldschool Honda guy. My very first car was an 85 Honda CRX Si - which I also still have - but I've always wanted a K5 Blazer. With the prices on them going through the roof, when the opportunity came up to nab one, I figured it was now or never.

So I purchased this. 88, 125k original miles. One owner.

Paid $3,500. Life-long California truck. Rust free. Original owner towed a humvee trailer with it so it has helper bags in the back. Got it with a 2" lift that I'll probably never install because I love the stance the way it is. Back of the truck was full of parts, including a front brake rebuild and a rear disk conversion. Also got it with an '89 tilt column. Has brand new Suburban power seats up front. Either has a new dash or the original dash is in perfect condition, no cracks. Has new carpet and rear interior panels, though I'm not sure how much I'm digging the camo theme. The owner was going for a CUCV look, which I can absolutely appreciate.

She's currently getting new heads. She'll be a weekend cruiser. I'm over the moon with this thing.

I’m in the process of restoring a 87 K5. I just did some framework by the steering box and put in a Red Head Steering Box. Was gonna go hydro assist but I don’t off road. The closest I get to off road in the city of New York is Randall’s Island. It’s between Queens and Manhattan. The FDNY and Sanatation train there recruits there. It’s in the Movie French Connection 1971. Anyways it’s coming out sweet. . I’m gonna put some photos up

Beautiful

I signed up a few days ago and just found this thread...I recently acquired a 74 Jimmy so I hope to get alot of knowledge, and some suggestions...from everyone here. My first car I bought when I was 18 was a 71 K5, and after building some jeeps I decided to go back to my roots.

Hello everyone,Dave here New member and as we all do . Love trucks and Blazers and most any 4 wheel drive . Restoring a 72 Blazer. Have a general question that may affect a lot of us. A friend of mine restored a blazer 72. His body was badly rusted but had a nice driveline and options. He purchased a clean body and transferred everything over including the vin plate. He used correct rosette rivets. He was at a show and they noticed that the vin had been changed. They called the police and they confiscated his restored Blazer wort mega bucks. They said that he could not do that. Just wondering because they said that the vin did not match the frame or the body. Have never seen the vin stamped anywhere on the body. Yes definitely is on the frame but not the body only in the glove box on the broadcast sheet. Does anyone know if there is a vin on the body and anyone have a similar story. Thanks we all restore these things and could be valuable information. Enjoy the site.
