I'm in the process of converting my 87 1/2t 2wd to a 3/4t 4wd. Got the B52 kit from Kurt, and the rear spring front hangers. Went to the yard today to get an axle, t-case, crossmember and some other misc. stuff. Got to looking at different 2wd/4wd frames, and thought I could just unbolt the 2wd crossmember and leave the motor mounts/stands there, and make a crossmember later. Well, it looks like I'm gonna havta pull the motor to do that, of which I don't want to do. So got to thinking of swapping the body over to a 4wd frame.
But anyways, there is an army surplus place not too far from me that has some trucks and parts. I asked them about a rolling chassis, and said $1k. This was maybe the cab, no motor/tranny, front 60 and rear 14ff. I know I can sell the front for at least half that, don't really need a 60 anyway. I thought it would be easier to swap 4wd stuff over to mine, cause finding a clean 4wd frame in the northeast is almost non existant.
