Is a 10blt enough?????

If your still interested in buying a 10-bolt, I was just looking in my dad's Military Vehicles Magazine. In the back is a military surplus company advertising U.S. "G.I. front axle assembly 10-bolt unused in crate, 3.08 gear ratio $395.00/each" they also advertise unused still in the crate rear 10-bolts posi rear 3.08 ratio also for $395.00

They also advertise 14 bolt rear 4.56 ratio with locker but there is no price.
If your interested I can give you their e-mail address

It's a small world because I just moved to WV, for a job, from Canton Ohio. All my in-laws are up there so during hunting season I am up there like every other weekend. If you know what your doing (no offence) how would you like to get paid to rebuid mine. I would drop it off with everything needed. New gears, calipers, rotors, rebuild kit, ball joints, etc...?

Gov-Bomb!! Run away! Run away!! :yikes:

10-bolt military axles (among others) have what is called a "gov-lock" differential. It works as an open diff until it reaches around 100 rpm, then it locks the other side.
In a light-duty axle like a 10-bolt, this tends to make them eventually explode in a particularly spectacular fashion, hence the nick-name "gov-bomb".
They're not worth the scrap price, much less anything more.

I know where I'll be going soon. $400 for a 10bolt, hub to hub everything new and clean (including brakes), can't beat that!
