Is a speedometer drive gear ok

Found speedometer drive gear chipped after taking apart np205 transfer case to rebuild and the only replacement ones I’m finding are plastic and the one I pulled out is metal. Are there any problems with going with the plastic or does anyone know where to find another metal one

I’d replace any gear that’s damaged, as it will transfer the damage to the mesh gear. Most all of the later drives are plastic without issue

This is my Son and for his 1974 GMC Jimmy. he is rebuilding all of this himself and would appreciate any insight on what hard parts, that don't come in rebuild kits, need to be checked carefully for any wear or scoring.

Mine is a 5 tooth so unless you have one with 5 teeth it won’t work

how you counting ? sounds like top to bottom . . . go around the top or bottom and let me know the real count .

I didn’t totally understand how I was supposed to count. It is a 7 spline
