After going through all gears my Jimmy still won't move. My t-case is hard to shift and even in 4x4 it still sits still and just revs. My drive shafts don't spin at all, so could it be either the t-case or the tranny, or both? :(:doah:

if its a manual mabey your clutch splines broke looses from the clutch disk and is its an automatic the words "automatic transmission" should answer your question:D

It's a 350 tranny and np203 t-case. I would think that the tranny would at least engage, but I get nothing at all and like I said, the t-case is hard to shift. I was trying to get the truck ready for August, but I might slow down and buy my wife a blazer. After seeing the progress in mine she now wants one.

I thought my t-case was in neutral, but I put it in every position possible with the same results. Could the gears be shot in it and make it hard to shift and therefor keeping it from engaging?

try shifting your case while the trans is in gear and you may hear some sort of grinding while shifting then that would at least tell you your tranny is moving

So no grinding would tell me the tranny is bad then? I get that, but what about the stiffness in shifting the case? If the case is shot would it grind while shifting with the tranny in gear as long as the tranny is moving?

When the tranny is in park can you push the truck? does it move ?

well i suppose your shift forks or linkages or whatever it is in the 203 could be super screwd up but idk. i would just take your t case out and try to spin the input with your hand and see it the output spins. but i really just think your trans is just dead

edit: yea no grinding would mean tranny is not spinning

Kind of a dumb question, but when did this start - have there been any symptoms or weird shifting? Is there fluid in the trans? Check the simple things first.

Well I had the shift forks get so bad in my 208 that it would put itself into nuetral on hard deceleration. My only clue was that shifting the transmission from R to D caused chattering from the parking pawl (i.e. confirming that the transmission was turning). Shifting between 2HI, 4HI and N did nothing, but luckily going all the way to 4LO got the case back on track so I could drive. I went through this a couple of times before I rebuilt the case.

So that would be my first guess, with the second being that there is no fluid in the transmission. Keep in mind that if your case is in nuetral, P will not hold the vehicle in place.

Same thing w/ my 700/208 burb. It was the shift forks in the case I thought it was the trans also, Especially because I have the 700.

Hey Jimmy, noticed your local. Buddy might have a spare 208 maybe 2 of them. Let me know if your interested. Shoot me an email.

Well it won't move unless the trans is in neutral. I checked the trans fluid and although it was low, there was fluid. It looked and smelled clean. It's been parked for over a year and the case was always hard to shift. I only drove it twice since 06. the first time I took it on the freeway, I broke my rear u-joints and had to baby it home in 4 hi. Thinking about it, the case did keep popping out.

Let me know if you find any local k5's for sale. I'm looking for one for my wife. My Jimmy's in Tulare so I'll pull the case out first and see what I can find out. Thanks, I just wanna go to Pismo in August.:(

you should just switch to an nv4500 (manual) and 205 and not have to worry about this crap again
