Is it my tranny, or t-case? Please help!

you should just switch to an nv4500 (manual) and 205 and not have to worry about this crap again
I wouldn't mind an np205, but why would I want an nv4500 to ride in sand dunes? I've drivin a buddies manual jeep and a manual 4runner in the dunes and I'd have to say a th-350 with the right shift kit is the way to go. If I ever rock crawl or serious trail ride I might go with a manual. Thanks for the opinion though!:D

well it wouldnt necessarily be good for dunes but its a fairly good durable tranny that would be a hell of a lot more reliable than an automatic

Maybe if it is the tranny that's bad I can look in the junk yards for a manual, if I use it as a tow rig. I can get my wife an auto for the dunes.

Well if you put it in park and you can't move the truck will tell you that the transfer case is holding ( in some sort of gear, hi or lo ) I would say something is wrong in the tranny.

Tranny experts chime in.

If I put the case in neutral and the tranny in gear and it rolls the it's the tranny for sure right? I'm thinking of pulling the case tomorrow and spinning it by hand and going through the tranny gears with it out so I can see if it's moving. I could see the 5th gear being nice for a driver, but it's not, so i'll stick with a 350/shift kit.

Well I got it working, took the t-case off and tore it down and cleaned it up, put it back in and re-oiled it. I changed the filter in the tranny and topped it with fluid. I used all full synthetic fluids and it runs fine now. I didn't find any broken teeth so I'm still confused. :confused:I'll just save up and get the tranny rebuilt with a shift kit.:D
