Is it possible to build a DD/wheeler...

I know right now on the highway my truck pulls down 20+ mpg.

6.2, NV4500, 203/205, 4.56's, 6" Alcan's, and 39.5" TSL's. 22 mpg wouldn't surprise me on 37" Radials. With 37's and the gearing it wouldn't have any trouble on any of the hills either. In fact with the 39.5's I had to gear down for one hill between here and Moab Utah. Everything else was in top gear...

A 6.2 swap is pretty easy, not usually that spendy and IMO gets you the most bang for the buck. Power is decent to good, fuel mileage is great, and there is no carb, dist, or computer to worry about. They also excel off road IMO.

Wrong... Being tall messes with areodynamics, but not that much...

With a 6.2, 38's a gear ratio to match, smart driving you should get 20.

With any gas motor... Good luck:rolleyes:

you spelled out my exact setup :D

i get 20mpg in the city :8

Hey Rene...How was your MPG before the NV4500 swap? How much, maybe a ballpark range, am I looking at for a 6.2/sm465 swap? What if I kept my 700? I think we talked about this before, so the mileage should be similar to for the 700, correct? Also, what complications does this put me in for emmissions, as my Blazer is a 90?

I don't know about putting a diesel in your 90, but aren't most diesels emmissions exempt?

I had a 6.2-465/208 in my 83 and got 17-18 with 4.10's and 33's.

It would prolly be cheaper/ easier to find a diesel blazer. Then just throw your goodies on it and sell yuor blazer...

i get 18.5 or so hwy in my truck w/ a th400 (no overdrive) and about 15-16 in town. w. and nv3/4500 or a 700r4 it only gets better- even w/ 37.5's and gears.

best way to go in my book. before this truck i had a 76 k5 w/ a 400 small block. bastard got maybe 10 hwy and god knows i didnt want to figure out my in town milage. (beating ricers off the line w. 33's and 3.08 gears was fun though)

Look up Davesfarm on Youtube, he put a 1.6L diesel from a VW Jetta into his 1990 or so Dodge Caravan, and he gets 53 mpg!

All his videos are great :haha:

For the diesel noob, what exactly will the 6.2 swap consist of, if my current rig is a '90 Blazer/350TBI/700r4?
