Is it possible to have a factory 79-80 hood on a 78?

My 77 has the 79-80 hood.
Records that came with truck don't have any body work. Guess a taco'd hood only needs a couple buddies to help.

If I were to guess, the front of the hood changed mostly because of rusting issues with the older style. It seems that the early style hood tended to bubble the leading edge much faster than the later style.

It does not take much force to bend the hood. For me one of the hinges froze and caused the hood to bind. This is before I knew to oil the hinges.

Also helps immensely to prolong 73~80 hood life is to push the hood inward at first towards the hinges before actually pulling the hood downward. This technique and generous lubricants on those hinges will go a long way towards making a hood last.

I thought pushing in and going side to side while pulling down helped as well?

Yep - it’s kind of a “dance” to get it right all at the same time at first as well as on the way down until it’s closed.
