My hinges externally are in great shape. But for sitting for years internally by the pin there rusty and creak/ screech so bad. Will they separate so I can clean them up or are they a pressed unit that will not come apart.

Tried searching but couldn't find the answer.

The one hinge of mine that I can pretty clearly see the hinge pin, it looks like the tip end of the pin is staked in place. The other end has what I guess you'd call a "truss head". Looks like the top of a carriage bolt.

Have you used light oil on it, something like 3-in-1? Just to get it worked in there, see if it helps?

My internet sucks today, have you checked out LMC truck for the components? It might be an optical delusion, but it ALMOST looks like there might be a plastic/nylon sleeve of some type on the tailgate side of the hinge. It's really hard to see, the hinge doesn't have much gaps in it.

If I was going to re-do the hinge, I'd over-think it (as is typical for me), and go for something like this (assuming diameter, length, and unthreaded portion were all correct): https://www.grainger.com/product/GR...p-Screw-5-16-18-38WN94?functionCode=P2IDP2PCP

Drill/cut/press out the original pin, then replace with a screw that is the same diameter as the pin was, *unthreaded* the entire length within the hinge, and only enough threads outside of the hinge to get a locknut (or tack weld) on the very end.

I've soaked them in PB B baster many times, no luck.

LMC has no listing for the hinges, or at least I was able to find.

Without taking it apart, probably going to be near impossible to get lube in the center section of the hinge where it rotates. Perhaps if you took the hinge completely off, you could stand it on end and get some to flow deeper in there.

Problem with that is thin lubes aren't going to provide a solution for long.

Unfortunately I can't think of much in the way of a long term solution outside of cutting it apart.

Ok, I can. Could drill a hole in the hinge to access the pin with lube, but that's also an ingress point for water and dirt, which will help wash the lube out. Spray lithium grease might somewhat offset that problem.
