Is it really worth it?

I have heard that the cummins 4bt gets good fuel economy. 30+ MPG with big tires. And then possibly make your own fuel. Does anybody know of a good source for these motors? I would rather go this route than the 6.2.

I agree with stkcode! I'd rather spend my money on my truck, and have what I want, than to further spread funds into an extra vehicle.
I paid $100 for a Ford Tempo 'bout 5 years ago. Hated the car. Yea, it got good mpg. Yea, it was a 5-speed (better a stick than an auto on twisty blacktop). Sunk 'bout $150 into it, and sold it 2 weeks later.

well jek brown is the only one thinking here i had a 95geo metro 4cyl bought it for 400bucks 100$ for new windshield id throw like 25-30bucks in it and drive around 30miles a day just to school and back that shiot would last me a good week-week and a half
lol it definatly didnt bring in the ladies but it got like 40mpg lol i even took it half way into sycemore creek lol of course once you got in you couldnt stop or youd get stuck lol and im pretty sure i spent more on the stereo then i did on the car lol which i took out when i TRADED it for a 89blazer this car just resently got a alcohol breathalizer thing in it or a LockBox

That's three months for me, four tops if I don't take any trips or visit my girlfriend. And then I'd be back in the same boat.

Have you looked at the economy lately? :doah:

Yes--I'm unemployed,so I have been trying to keep myself busy by fixing lawnmowers and other work..plenty of jobs here if you don't mind 7.50 an hour delivering parts,or standing behind a counter all day, watching your life pass before your eyes....I'm not in great health,so I am not wasting my time or an employers trying to get and keep a 40 hr job I probably wont be able to do for that long..I hope to enjoy what time I have left..not be miserable working a job I hate, like I did for 20 years already..

I make more goofing around in my garage at my own pace in a few days than a week of a"real" job,but not everyone pays you, some are deadbeats, others waste your time doing jobs that take forever, but dont bring in the $$$$ you'd hoped...many times I end up working for free,by the time I add up the expenses, and what I paid for parts..its tough to make and KEEP any money today..

I agree an econobox COULD be practical--the big "IF" here is insurance--450-500 a year is about the price of most cars I've bought!--many times the sales tax and insurance far exceeds what you paid for the dam thing!..the vehicle itself,if it can be had cheap, can be fixed up with junkyard parts quite cheaply..its making it road legal that takes most of the $$$$$$$.!

P.S.--my original post didn't include sales tax (5%) and the title fee (50 bucks!)....gotcha by the testicles at the registry of motor vehicles, and insurance company..

Diesel. Jettas get as much as 50 mpg. Fullsize truck can get in the 20s. Diesel is often cheaper, and bio is really cheap. If you're like me, you can get diesel cheap in mex too.
