Is my Burb stock height?

It has the three pack springs. That will make it just a touch taller than most.

What exactly is the difference in the suspension between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton? Besides axles of course.

The reason why i ask. A friend of mine 3 hours away has a lift kit for a 3/4 ton burban of the same vintage. Still in the box. Before i jump in my Superduty and head out, will it fit? Obviously mine is a 1/2 ton with crappy axles (will upgrade to a full float in the very near future) and a 6.5 (n/a) diesel under the hood. The kit is a NLA tuff country lift.

short of custom springs, i dont see any 4in lift kit for my truck that has gas or diesel specific springs. Obviously its going to sit lower with the diesel in it. I called skyjacker earlier today and the tech told me they have so little request for the diesel that they never made seperate springs but people have called to complain that after 3 or so years they start sagging. I was hoping that 3/4 ton springs would bolt right in, so i don't have to worry about the added weight of the diesel.

Most aftermarket lift kits have an HD option for folks with diesels/winch bumpers etc. Most also offer the same front springs for 1/2, 3/4, and 1 tons as well as small block big block, or diesel. In other words, most lift kits for a 85 half ton with a 350 will have the same front springs as a 85 1 ton with a diesel. My opinion is if you want the best spring you can buy for your specific vehicle and driving style is to get the custom springs from offroaddesign.

first mod now that everything is fixed on it.

Those spring would be good for your burb.
and yes it is stock now, the 3 leaf stock springs where offered on the diesel trucks because the engine is a bit heavier.
I have a few of those.
Nice burb by the way. :thumb:

its not stock annnnymore!

Now to find some rally wheels that aren't a arm/leg/left lower appendage.

edit: now this truck is really starting to confuse me... pulled rear tires and center caps off... its a 6 lug semifloat.

but i count 14 bolts on the rear cover...

WTF!?

Nice burb and just for comparison and I'm a pic whore here is my Sub with 4" lift and 315s

They can't be that expensive. They had sets at the swap meet here in Lincoln for under $200, and I thought they were overpriced.

Martin

Well here they can easily fetch $400 and up to $800

For 15" Rally wheels??? I should haul a few sets out to California.

No I was talking about the six lug 14 bolts

Then why did you quote me?

I wish i could find some rally wheels for under 200 dollars... Keep scouring CL and ebay daily.

I need to stick some steps on the truck. I KNEW i shouldn't have lifted it, but i was going after the burb in Dante's Peak like everyone else. I stopped driving my lifted F350 daily since i have trouble getting in and out.

So, the million dollar question. Since my truck is badged as a 2500 and does not have egr. Is it a 2500??? Did they make a 6 lug 3/4 ton truck?

edit:
if you couldn't tell. i'm a ford guy

In the square bodies.... no. Either someone popped 2500 badges on or worse (and most likely), someone stole the 3/4 ton axles (better ratios and bigger brakes) and swapped in 1/2 tons. They are a direct bolt in swap between 1/2 and 3/4 tons.

The GVW sticker in the door jamb should provide a clue as to what the truck really is, and I would match the VIN on that sticker to the VIN on the dash just in case someone swapped doors from a 3/4 ton.

In any case it looks like a good solid body to start with even if it does need bigger axles.
