My older brother had a '86 Monte-Carlo SS with a 305 HO engine and a 700r4,3:73's.....that thing was pretty fast !..been in a few T/A's with them too,that felt more like 350's at least too--gearing makes the difference..................................................................................................................................................................................................I liked the '86 305 I put in my 79 C10 that came originally in a G-10 van a lot better than the 307 I put in my 81 G-10 from a 73 Chevelle..but they are probably not that much different in HP,the truck had 3.42's and it was a lot lighter probably--much quicker off the line than the van is with 2.73 gears...S-L-U-G!..but it'll hit 80 mph in second gear before it upshifts to third!..but it wont go much over 85 either,no matter how long you keep the hammer down.........................................................................................................................................................................................................I've driven a few full sized GM's with 4.3 V6's and swore they were V8's till I opened the hood and only saw 3/4 of a 350 under it!...
