Is there a 350 in the world that doesn\'t leak oil?

I've had 3 different small blocks in my K5 and every single one has leaked. The one I have in there now is a fresh 350 from a reputable shop. It was good for a few thousand miles, but now I switched to synthetic oil and bingo, leakage. Only about two drops every time I pull into the garage, but still... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Never anyplace easy either, looks like rear main or something (settles onto bell housing).

ive used victor resin gaskets and felpro gaskets, the felpros last alot longer before leaking

It's not called leakin. It's called markin it's territory. Yes they all do it. It's also called constantly changin it's own oil. Good luck to ya in the future.

The stock 350 in our '94 Sub, with 124K miles on the clock, doesn't leave any drops on the driveway since I had a hydraulic hose shop rebuild the POS factory oil cooler lines. Before that it dripped all the damn time. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Mine doesn't really leak, it more or less just seaps out, nothing drops on my driveway from the motor, but the oil pan has some residule covering it, was mostly from the rear main seal before i replaced it though.

211,000 miles never been torn apart /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Just waitin for it any day to do SOMETHING /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

189K miles and a new timing chain (so I cut and replaced the front pan gasket) and still no leaks. The tail shaft on my 208 is putting some oil under the truck but nothing up front. I do have a radiator leak now though /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

The project truck leaks, I think its because the tranny lines are rusted and leaking though

Mine doesn't leak /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Leaked a lot though when I pulled the cover and cranked it to check for a bad cam /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Mine was a rebuilt engine though, if your tired of it leaking oil then just replace all the seals on it. Also helps to prevent dirt and stuff from getting in it. Their real bad to leak at the corners on the back of the intake sometimes too. And a lot of times it turns out to just be valve covers.

Since you and I resealed my upper end, no more leaks from motor. My ps box got leaky again, wonder how many times I'm gonna try brake fluid before we do that seal /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Is there a 350 in the world that doesn\'t leak oil?

No leaks since I went to a 1 piece rear main seal engine.

I use Fel-Pro gaskets ONLY even though my work sells only Victor.

Motor dosen't leak, everything else however /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: Is there a 350 in the world that doesn\'t leak oil?

funny post. i was doing all the general stuff today(oil, filter, lube, rear gear oil change) and also the usual cleaning of the slow leaks. Never makes the driveway, but just gathers here and there.
-rear dif leaks at the pinion...seeps more like it
-rear output of tcase seeps also
-radiator hose(top one) drips ever so slightly
-oil is leaking from somewhere of rear drivers side. I cleaned up and will try to track it in a couple of days.
-water leaks into cab betweeen hard top and cab
-water leaks in from front of cap somewhere

leaks, leaks, leaks.

How much did it cost you to rebuild your cooler lines? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif That's the only small leak I have right now! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif The factory lines are no longer in existence! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I removed the lines from the truck and dropped them off at the shop in the morning. That afternoon the rubber on both lines had been replaced with Aeroquip hydraulic hose and new crimped fittings. Cost me a whopping $28. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

GM phuqued me for $90 for a new set of lines on my '91 S-Jimmy. About a year later one of them started leaking. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Re: Is there a 350 in the world that doesn\'t leak oil?

Thanx man, I'll look around here for a shop to do mine!

Re: Is there a 350 in the world that doesn\'t leak oil?

I had found a local hydro shop that was willing to produce a new set for just over $100... so I decided to remove the oil cooler adapter from the block, and just slapped in the lil piece to attach the filter direct. Damn I'm cheap.

But to the subject of this thread... my '89 Burb with 84,000 has no OIL leaks... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and my K5 is on its way to having no leaks at all. 1pc rear main block, well sealed Th400... they only thing still leaking is my bent hydro assist ram! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif
