Um, 1 Ton diffs give you less clearance than your stock 1/2 ton's.
so as far as not getting stuck as much, better buy a winch to go with
those diffs. Unless you are going to be adding some bigger tires
and lockers to go with those.

I think he was referring to things breaking and leaving you stranded.

Well it turned out to be an external lockout D44 and a 14 bolt, which would have been alright because I wanted them for the better gear ratio (4.88). So me and a friend decided to take the diff cover off the 44 and check the ratio. Well there were some goodies inside. About 8 teeth were stripped off the ring gear, so passed on getting them.


And so the quest for something better than a 3.08 gear ratio continues.
