i started to take apart front end to replace rotors...well, it wasn't the rotors giving me the "shakes", it was some trashed wheel bearings. ok, after i started to remove some of the different clips and rings..etc. i got to this part...i tried to turn it and it snapped, or may have been little craked before hand. ANYWAY...i am installing new warn manual locking hubs...is this pc part of the old auto hubs....or am i gonna need to get a new one...?? thnx dudes.....i don't know if this worked...holler and i'll try a different method

hey dudes, when i go to reinstall all my goodies (have to order spindle lock washer, b here tuesday) , do i put the giant spring back in too? or was that part of old system? i would think yes? any bigger diagrams of how all de pieces are supposed to fit back toghter? i know i was supposed to pay attention....but typical me..i laid parts out by wheel in order and big winds blew my **** all over the place dis mornin' !

vids in route! thnx. i know i'm the resident goof ball ya'll get some good laughs off of. thats cool. lata

Yes, the big spring is part of the locking hub.

I broke the pin off my lock nut that goes into the holes on that washer and I haven't had any problems but I don't assemble my front end like the book says. I put the hub together and tighten the first nut tight, then back it off SLOWLY while spinning/rocking the hub until it feels right. Then I tighten it up about an 1/8 of a turn.
Then I put the washer on, then the outer spindle nut and I torque the crap out of that outer nut all the while checking the hub to be sure it isn't getting tighter.
It's the only way I can get my front end to stay together and has worked out pretty well for the past couple years.

The right way would be the stage 8 kit but it's a 10b and I refuse to spend $$$ on it. :)

so your telling me, that big spring goes bwteen inside hub and new locking mechnism of hub! fuggg....how do i do that!

negative. That big spring is an internal piece of the old hub, being that you are installing new warn hubs, you do not need to install that big spring anywhere. Sounds like you removed one snap ring too many when disassembling your old stuff and opened up the innerds of the locking hub itself.

look at this pic:

does the big spring look like the one in that pic? If so, don't worry about it.

you torque the inner nut to 50ftlbs and then back it off a quarter turn. Slide the lock ring in and make sure the pin on the inner nut finds a hole. Then snug the outer on.
