Its a limited locker. In between, gives the locking characteristics but with less of the harshness found with true lockers, at the price of strength.

so it'll still engage with one wheel in the air?

Yes, it needs 100rpm speed differential between tires to lock up. It also will not lock up above 25mph but will stay locked up above that if locked before then.

It still uses clutches so they can wear out but are rebuildable.

A gov-lok is 100% worthless in the rocks. In the dirt/mud/sand it works well if you can keep it from breaking.

Its not a true locker but its closer than most limited slips.
