So I came across this and it looks like the WARN transformer for our trucks looks like a full size on an s-10. So what say ye?

Looks a lot like the one I had on my 88 K5. The winch plate part looks different.

I asked them for the measurements on the outside edge to outside edge and the uprights width. In the picture it looks big on the S-10 so that is why I ask.

The woman emailed me back and said it was her fathers and on an S-10. Still waiting for the dimensions. I can't afford it and the winch ($500) they want $100 for the grill guard. So I am trying to get that together.

Yes you know what I want to build!

I see lots of RED in my future!

That one on the S-10 is clearly not for that truck. Warn had a kit specific to that truck that matched the lines much better.

Warn had several different variations of Trans4mer back in the day - but the winch carriers were limited - I believe if the distance between the uprights is 25" on the inside it would be the correct grille guard.

Warn made Trans4mers for everything in the late 90s (Isuzu Amigos, Toyotas, Ford Rangers, S-10s, fullsize square body Fords/GM/Dodges, etc..., then Mike Warn sold the company in '99 and investors started ruling it vs. enthusiasts. (I was an engineer there from '99 - '05)

That is a newer style winch plate - the older ones had a larger front face for mounting the foot forward winches (M12, etc...) (Similar to the picture of the Dante's Peak truck)

I'm assuming those frame brackets would not be correct - you would need frame brackets to "bolt" it right on. It is tough to tell from the pics, but it looks like someone did some creative welding in the bottom mounting area on each side.

just talked to a WARN guy - he reminded me this kit was before the Trans4mer - it was called a "Combo Kit"

WARN P/N 18430

The hardware kit that went with it was 17810 for the 81 to 87 Chevys, 17800 for the 73 to 80.

Nice info; the woman said it was 5 feet wide and the center is 24 inches apart. I measured the front of my 87 K5 and it is about 8 inches to narrow. Do you think it could be made to work Ben? She said they want $100 for it with out the winch.

Any good pictures of your so I can judge if this one would work?

wow that is different than what I was looking for.

Those are the old sidemembers. The brushguards and frame brackets are the same.

Anything can be "made" to work, depends on effort you want to put in it. I have a buddy looking for prints right now.

OK she sent me an email asking if I was still interested. Let me know Ben. Thanks so much for getting him to look.
