Is your 205 LOUD ? FIXED

It could also be the collar between the trans and t-case, but if that goes the truck usually wont move.

I forgot to mention, a couple months ago, when I had my 203 in,,,i could apply the gas just fine,in2wd,,and no noise at all, then I put in the 205, and now,,,, the noise

Worst that'll happen is you brake something that's already broken. At least you'll find the problem:thumb:

I just locked the hubs up and clicked the t case back , and everything engages fine , came to a dead stop again, gave it gas, same grinding noise under load........when gas is applied:doah: gen

Oh just forget the whole thing,im just gonna rip it out, and replace it with another......thanks for your time,i appreciate it

And So, I've replaced the transmission with a rebuilt,AND the transfer case with a rebuilt 205.Put everything together and,,,,,,,,Grinding under acceleration continues! !!!! man o man!

It really sounds like the rearend has a issue, like a ring and pinion messed or something.

I don't think we ever heard back about the type of driveshafts involved or any of the angles, that's still my bet.

That is what I told him from the beginning, the driveshafts are brand new but the angles could be off, and I just told him to check clearance from the shifter too, he switched from 203 to a 205, and I know the shifter loactions are different.:dunno:

Its rookie hour here on ck5 for me again lol. So I found the problem. I was looking in the engine compartment, ,,,and noticed the harmonic balancer was GROUND. So, bad motor mounts moving motor , in turn jamming balancer into the frint crossmember.I had my wild Indian friend come over and stick his head on the ground near the vehicle while I gassed it.He even got on top of my front bumper while I gassed it and the sound was real prodominent from his ear comming from engine. I could of swore the sound was coming from the tc area. But I was flat out wrong. But then again my truck is possesd and it trows voices! Thanks all. Lol!:D

So I replaced a th350 and a 205, for nothing!:eek1:
It's OK, some people are like that.
You are just too impatient and if you are not doing something you get antsy, now you can not say you didn't try to fix it and you DID end up figuring it out.
Now I feel better, because I knew there was nothing wrong with my Tcase.
So did you change the engine mounts? That is usually what happens, they get squished and the balancer starts rubbig on the crossmember, also if you use a 2wd mount it's thinner than a 4wd mount.

I was going to suggest motor mounts also. Had the same noise when I would decelerate while still in gear. Got underneath the motor and could rock it back and forth. Glad it was something simple.

Not yet, I have the rubber trans mounts, but yeah,in the end its great, I ended up with a pristine case and a new th350 I would like to go wheeling in the next decade! Lol

well I have a pair of good ones, if you want they are yours.
And I think I know what happened, your tcase monuts were squishy and you replaced them with new ones that pushed the rear up, which pushed the front of the engine down, making the balancer hit, so now that you will change the front mounts to newer it will make everything go up a bit, you might also notice the fan in the shroud a little low, which will get better once you change them.

Glad you figured out the problem! I knew the case you got form me was good, and the old case also checked out ok. Glad its just the mounts, although if it had been the rearend you have the 14 bolt!
