If your wheeling buddys call you right now, is your truck ready to go? If not how long would it take you to be ready?
As for me, I'm ready about 80% of the time. If I small problems, less than a week.

The only major project left to do on my rig are the brakes. I'm going to a hydroboost set up and I need to replace all the soft lines (When I bought my rig it sat without an engine for 2 years).
I also need to replace the seals in the rear axle but that's no biggy.

As of about 2 hours ago i finished installing the new 3/4 ton 44 with Warn premiums. that was the last thing i needed to finish to have a 99% reliable wheeler... so install the driveshaft and LETS GO!!!!:D

ooooooo good thread! my truck seems to be perpetually "call me next week" lol. always somethin comin up. my buddy kirven though (member koldsimer) seems to always be ready to roll though, i dont i can recall once that he hasn't been able to head out...not due to the truck anyways:haha:

Ready and able nearly all the time! I can't recall one time in the last year and a half that I haven't gone wheelin' at least once a week. Wish I could say the same for all you cous-cous friends of mine! :D

A big part of being ready was taking the time and spending the $ to build my truck right. Years of walking home because of 1/2 ton equipment gave me the desire to build something that could be wheeled hard at a moments notice. I've gotta give a big thanks to CK5 too! Before I discovered this place, all the info I had was from trial and error and my buddys with very limited knowledge of anything more challenging than changing their oil. CK5 taught me how to build a capable and bulletproof ride!

Another reason i'm always ready is because I can't stand to have something broken on my truck. It dominates my thoughts all day and it's usually fixed within 24 hours.

O'l Spots is always ready. I have been tuning my FI for better MPG so I would have to un hook the fuel pressure guage. But that only takes a second and i am good to go. Got a new locker waiting to go in to replace a worn out Pop Rite in the front. But that only takes a few hours and i can do that any old time.

Well it depends on which truck you mean...my K10 is currently without ALOT of important stuff and waiting for other stuff to be swaped...so that thing...prolly 6 months.

When the buddys around back home usual go tearin stuff up its a spurt of the moment deal...when I get called to come to the rescue. Usually cuz im the only one that has clevaces and a two strap with me all the time.

You'd be surprised what the S10 Blazer will get through with some meaty tires will get through. Snow and Mud wise that is.

GOT GAS?

That's all i need to go wheelin, in fact, went last night to a couple of local spots real quick thats why i need gas.

All I gotta do is top off the oil and gas and I'm ready. Its got plenty of problems but I'll fake it and break it so I have something to fix next weekend.

I keep gas in the truck as to not let condensation build up in the tank... heard that somewhere on here....

Other than that, it is usually harder to get the permission slip than to have the truck ready :D

I heard that too so I try to keep it over 1/2 full makes it easier to never have to worry about running out of gas either...right now its pretty empty but whatever I try
