Not A Bronco submitted a new Build:

it’s Not A Bronco!

This is my 72 blazer (as it sits today) I got when I was 19. It’s crazy looking back on it because when I bought it originally I couldn’t tell you what a distributor cap or a tie rod was. All I knew was that I wanted an old Chevy blazer View attachment 263614
It was pretty stock (looking) when it was new to me. Didn’t know it till I got it home but the rear floors are pretty damn Rusty and there’s a bit of rust on the driver side floor plan
View attachment 263615
the top was a wreck so I ditched it after a few monthsView attachment 263616
Changed the engine and transView attachment 263617
I also wanted a roof rack but didn’t want to get rid of the soft top so I built my own thing for a roof rack minus the tubing bending and welding cause I’m not that skilledView attachment 263619View attachment 263620View attachment 263621View attachment 263622
You might notice I went down to 33 inch tires rather than the 35’s that came with it, I didn’t realize it at the time but I had broken rear leaf springs and it made the suspension sag enough to where the 35s rubbed badlyView attachment 263623
Got fuel injection in late 2016 but I changed it recently, just cause it wouldn’t cooperate with me at any point and it got worse in the last couple monthsView attachment 263625After getting rid of the rear blocks and changing the front and rear spring packs I went back up to 35’s and had no rubbing afterwards, This was late last year I took this picture up on inspiration point only a few things have changed since the time of this shot
View attachment 263624Took it to a four wheel parts event and ran into kgblazerfive and Twinkie and he made me sign up here LOL. But I’m glad I did!View attachment 263626

Haven’t done much with it after that point except build a winch bumper (not finished yet).View attachment 263632And that’s about it other than changing the engine crossmember to the DIY4X cross member and ditching the fi-tech for a holley truck Avenger.
More things to come including probably a 14 bolt semi float swap. And random other things along the way

What did you do after you pulled the FITech off?

I got a deal on a holley truck avenger from a dude on a Chevy page, Had to wait for a week after I sold my fi-tech for it to get here. but once I slapped it on it Idled better than it has in months! Nice and smooth, But I’m gonna take it to a guy who knows how to tune holleys better than I couldupload_2018-4-24_21-6-39.jpeg

Yeah they aren’t too crazy, but some guys can dial one in pretty fast and it’s worth paying for

There’s also a couple threads on here about the 14SF. I installed one in mine as well.

The factory hummer units may have an Eaton E locker. May be worth looking for

Yeah that might be worth looking into rather than having to buy a locker after the fact

What was your final decision to pull the injection off?
I just couldn’t trust it, every time I’ve gone on long trips offroad it’s always given me trouble. between the pump vapor locking and the injection running bad at random times I didn’t want to risk being out in the boonies somewhere and having something fail. Carb may not run as nicely as fuel injection.. but I’ll take the reliability of a carb over how it was with the fitech

It seems short term the fitech is the way to go but long term it sucks... So glad I did the LS swap

After parking the blazer for the last 5 months for valve issues, i finally got around to swapping the heads this week. I went with the summit racing iron heads, carb needs a tune but she fired up on the first turn of the key! Took her the next day to crush some cars at the 4wheel parts sale

Well I took my blazer up some local dirt tracks, for a trial run. Tons of uphill off camber stuff but she did great, this is me getting practice in for this years blazer bash. I’ll hopefully make it if nothing unforeseen comes up
