It runs again 7 years later! Looking for help with my powersteering

My pump is stock, dead stock. Never had any issues.
Yes that will be my next move. Sometimes I find it hard to leave well enough alone. I don't see why drilling the orifice out for more flow would make the pump crack? I just hope that is the issue.
If I'm not hitting the steering stop on the knuckles before the ram is pulled all the way back in would that be detrimental to the pump? I looked at it a little closer tonight and it looks like I have to adjust the ram a little. I thought I had it all set up properly when I fit it up on the bench but I guess not. It appears to not be hitting the stop when the ram pulls in (turning right) and then when it extends out (turning left) it does hit the stop, not sure if the ram still has more travel? I need to unbolt it and see. The pump failed today while turning to the right almost to full lock.
 
I meant 8 or 6 inch long. You use a different length for high and low steer that is why I am wondering.
