In my shop. Doing stuff.
This guy and his wife walked a mile out to the main road. It was 3:00pm and we were headed off of the mountain. We drove back in and found his JK stuck in a foot of snow, on a road nobody had been on. He was an idiot with 4wd. As we were pulling on his heep for about an hour, he told me "it never has been stuck before and goes anywhere." 15 minutes later I asked him long he had owned it? "1 month" was his answer.

It is hard to get stuck on pavement.

His wife wanted a phone number so they could wheel with us. I suggested a Jeep club would be more to their liking.

We did get them out.

ya never know he may just get inspired to build that jeep and end up pulling you out someday! don't be a hater. I guess you forgot all about the first time you went wheeling??

First time I went wheeling (other than desert racing) I was with a bunch of CK5 guys from the Denver area. I stayed away from the ugly stuff. Never wheel alone.

Our local Jeep club came across a similar situation out in the mountains in the dead of winter a couple years ago. Cept the guy, his wife, and 3 month old baby had been stuck out there for a couple days already.

Fortunately, he was pretty handy and had a nice camp fire going, had some food, plenty of water on hand etc. Probably would have been fine for a couple more days no problem, but still goes to prove that wheeling by yourself is never smart, no matter how prepared you may be.

So I bought this 747 jet and I am going to go fly to Vegas!

Umm I don't know how to fly!

No wait, they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express!

howd he get stuck in just a foot of snow.even in my stock cherokee with 30 inch tires i never got stuck in the snow.and ive been in at least a foot of snow with it.did he have it in four wheel?i never go wheelin without anether vehicle.thats dumb to begin with.

HYou can not see it in the pictures, but there is a drift in front of him and the trail slopes to the right. He was parked against the trees with the right wheels over the edge. Bad driving got him there.

trivial, trivial...

what's truly important here, is whether the wife was hot or not?

unfortunately she was probably thinking "built-in towtruck for my dopey hubby when we get stuck", when she asked to go wheeling with ya.. :wink1:

Nothing to look at. Was not happy with hubby either. One of the guys with us suggested driving them home then going back to strip the jeep.:D

^^^^That's just messed up, man.

I've learned the hard way to never wheel alone (or at least with one vehicle). I've been stranded in river beds, mountain tops (x3), and mud bogs in the back country. Never had a winch (we'll fix that soon), and you never have enough floor mats when you need them:(. Used to never carry a strap or tools.

Now I carry about 200lbs of extra crap, minus water and food. And if I know I'll be out somewhere away from civilization, I bring water/food/toiletries for a week. I'd almost need a chase vehicle if I ever start offroading again:haha:

i get that jeeps are easy to build and fit well in most places....but i never understood how a stock jeep is invincible offroad...just cause its a jeep???

i remember reading that. that was a pretty cool story. guy was in like a blue Chevy Colorado

I bet I could top 1k lbs if I carried spare axle shafts, d-shafts, pinion yokes and what-not. I've heard of some folks doing stuff like that and maxxing out the GVWR just in spare parts:eek1:
