...some pics. :waytogo:

Over the winter I started teardown, cleaning, painting, and overhaul of my 3/4 ton axles. All new seals, brakes, ball joints, and a couple bearings here and there. During that time I've found some good deals on used parts here on CK5 and my local c-list.

Front 8 lug 10b 4.10s all done, stock shafts modded for full circle clips. In the little cardboard box is a used lockright I purchased from a CK5er and the powdercoated shiny black diff cover also from a CK5er.

Rear 8 lug 14bsf 4.10s open diff going back together. I have a matching powdercoated shiny black diff cover for this also from the same CK5er I got the front cover from.

Found a set of 5 H2 wheels on my local c-list, came with 4 bald tires and the 5th spare BFG A/T which never touched the street and always had the tire cover on it. Paid $400 for the set and was happy cause that saved me from buying 5 tires to have a full sized spare.

And my nephew, who bought my 2500HD last fall, just sent me a lump payment. So, I bought a set of 35x12.5R17 BFG KM2s to go on the H2s for $1250 :eek1:

And I recently found this set from a local CK5er, 4" TC front HD springs slightly used with greasable bolts/bushings and shackles. And the used ORD rear shackle flip. All for $200! :thumb:

Now I have to call ORD for the rest of the odds and ends to get it all together.

what all is involved in cleaning the axles up and painting them? I have some coming from a member, and will prolly do all that BEFORE I install....

All I did was hit them with wire brushes, hand held and drill powered, washed them with degreaser soap and water, then brushed on Rustoleum primer, then semi gloss black.

Nice parts, bring on the truck pics!

Edit: Holy crap I have over 1000 posts, that only took ~7 years.

Parts are looking good, but where are the pics of the truck?

:whistle:Now we can go wheelin next year while I'm in Providence:whistle:

You know where to find me. And I've been wheeling it on stock suspension and 33s anyways.

Still in the parts hoarding stage. I don't have everything to start putting it together just yet you pic hungry junkies. :D

More wheeling than I've done with a 4 inch and 35's. Jersey sucks. haha

That's it for now peeps. I have no pics of it on all 4 wheels just yet. Waiting on a new rear CV d-shaft before I can drive it, work out bugs, etc...

I don't know why the pics are so small. We got a new computer at home (apple) and I have no idea how to use it. :dunno:

Looks good. I sure like those wheels and tires. Those wheels look sweet on there. I like the H2 wheels.

35" KM2s, theres a pic of them stacked up in the first page all new and stuff.

Finally back together and driving it!!! :woot: The stock spring perches on the rear 14bsf axle pretty much pointed the pinion directly up to the t-case. This is something I never checked while the axle was in the truck it came out of nor while it sat idle in the garage. So, I never had a new rear d-shaft in the build plan. I went to a local place (Capeway Bearing in Plymouth, if you're around here) and had them make up a new shaft with a slip yoke CV at the front. $350 and a couple days later I picked up the new shaft and had it in last night after work. Took it for a drive and all is well so far. Even got a random :waytogo: while on my test drive last night. And I drove it on the highway 25 minutes to work and this truck rides sooooo much better than the stock suspension. It was dark last night and pouring rain this morning so no assembled pics yet...

I have a question on torque specs.

Brand new u-bolts front and rear, what should I torque them to? Considering the size of the nuts/bolts I made an educated guess of 120 lb ft.

Brand new steering arm and studs, cones, and nuts, what should I torque those to also? Again I guessed at 110 lb ft.

I plan on rechecking them a few times especially in the coming month but it would be nice to know the proper spec.
