So... I picked up a M1008 a couple weeks ago. Its all stock other than the glow plug circuit is bypassed with a momentary push button, which works great.

I love this truck!!! Gunna be the tow rig for the K5.

I think it'd look better with the stock steelie wheels.

Good looking truck man! How well does it pull a fullsize rig?

Dont know yet... still a couple weeks out before the Blazer and trailer are done.

I will be towing a gooseneck with it.

Should be fine... just keep the speeds slow because of the 4.56 gears. Its really just a stripped down K30.

I wish my m1008 was that purdy......actually no I dont cause then I wouldnt wanna wheel it either lol.

This one is almost mint. Great shape. As good as the pictures show.

This will be my tow rig and around town cruiser. (I dont tow far) Have an '04 2500HD for that if I do.

Since I'm not a fan of butchering frames by welding or drilling more holes, I'd get a plate large enough to remove the inner 4 bolts holding the bed to the frame and fasten the large plate to those 4 bolts and mount your ball to that plate. Even though you will need to cut a hole in the bed floor, who cares. Its the frame I worry about. Just leave the very front and rear bolts alone and use the inner 4.

that's a clean looking cucv. i tow a 34' cigarette boat with my cucv. you'll have no problem with pulling a k5

they make some stuff to add to gas now to make your exhaust smell like strawberries, oranges, bananas, or just about any fruit you can imagine. not sure if it will work w/diesel tho. if so, u could have your manly truck smelling like grapes or tuity fruity..lol

I've got 4.56s with a set of 285/75/16s, and I hate to run the truck faster than 55 mph with it. Assuming my tach is reasonably accurate, I'm running about 2500 rpm at that speed with my 1:1 4th gear.

If my O/D gearset hadn't failed, I'd be at a comfortable 2000 rpm at 60 mph.

There is already a gooseneck hitch installed in the bed, mounted through the bed to the frame. Its held on by 6 5/8 bolts. I dont think it uses any of the factory bed bolts... I dont think.

The truck was used for a few years to tow a horse trailer at the University of North Carolina around the campus. Was never plated until the guy I got it from plated it.

I have put more road miles on it than anyone since it was a military vehicle.

I think I will be good to go. Most of the local bogs are with an hour and its all two lane country roads to get there. Or, I just take the freeway a little bit and stay to the right.

Might have to look into it, just to mess with some buddies. :D

I run about 55 mph. Maybe 60 for a little bit. With no OD... I just kick back and cruise. Didnt buy it for a daily driver or long trip truck or anything. Might be nice to have OD, but for now I am not worried about it.

On craigslist. $2500. :D

Normally this condition would be more.

no doubt, that things really nice from looking at the pic...i'll give you your money back on it..dang that sounds silly cheap for a rig in that condition...i've seen them where you can tell they are ragged out from pics for $4-5k, some peeps think b/c its ex-military its gold.....GOOD SCORE!

Definitely a good score. Wish I paid that little for mine and I bet yours is cleaner.

You might consider a set of 35's. Those look like 33's. Even with the 33's you're still very deep geared and operating that 6.2L pretty high up in the rpm's just to do 55mph.

with the money you saved on the amazing price, you might as well throw a banks sidewinder on it, youll certainly appriciate having it while towing. and its supposed to even give you better fuel mileage. adds something like 60hp and 115ftlbs, +10% fuel economy according to banks. tests ive read about seemed to indicate those numbers arent too far off.

Its as clean as it looks. :D And, no.... its not for sale. :D:D

I really want 35s, but I dont want to add any lift or mess with fender trimming. Wonder how close I could get? Or, how much bigger I could go without doing anything but bolting on the wheels. Still beed to get rid of the nasty wagon wheels though.

If I could find one cheap... I would consider it. But, for the price of one new... I just cant talk myself into it.

57,000 miles on it.
