are these hard to find items...i searched and see i missed a set today not alot more info, other than they are wired to headlights! can you find them and wire them thru toggle w/o wiring to headlights? also can you buy them aftermarket or from military truck salvages? i've found cucv bumper and grill guard w/o the lights...how hard are they to find and retro to civilian k5 w/switch...before i pass on bumper.... waiting on 1 w/ the blackouts?

make me an offer on mine ;) the previous owner hacked up the wiring anyway, and i plan on replacing the rear bumper at some point so i can have a winch on the front, and a swing away spare tire rack on the rear. ill rig up KC lights or fog lights or something to the switch on the dash instead of blackout lights. i really dont need them, im certainly not doing a restoration.

YOu can find them online look up military surplus, etc.

The blackout kits on USGI vehicles is more than just lights, when they flip the switch, it discos the brake lights and turns on the low watt front and back lights. If your going for the look than thats fine, you should be able to find them. There are blackout turn signals parking lights as well.

i dont??????? wasnt even aware *smacks forhead* lemmi go see if i can change that right quick....(edit) should be ok now.... lemmi know if its not.

oh and there are blackout turn signals???? my truck only has four blackout lights, two in each bumper.

thats what i'm looking for the bumper lights...and i plan on running them on a toggle switch w/o tieing them in w/head/brake lights, so the harness being cut should be fine

heres a thread w/good harness and stuff, but i was late looking for them

would you take $25 + shipping since the harness is hacked?

the lenses seem to be what i'm looking for mainly...how do they mount to bumper...do you have that stuff? if so i think i will buy this cucv stuff i've found thats missing the lights and your lights!

if they are worth your money 25 + S&H sounds great, let me go out and take a look, and maybe some pics and such. make sure none of the lenses are cracked or broken, and all the mounting hardware is there. obviously i have no idea if the bulbs are good, or anything like that, ive never had them operating. the previous owner tried to wire up a set of fog lights to the blackout light wiring *smacks forhead* sad thing is he even had the military manual for the truck on CD and had access to the wiring harness diagrams.

im off to class, but ill post up later tonight if everything is there, and if its somewhat damaged but you still want it, hell ill ship it off for just shipping cost. Like i said, im not doing a restoration, its a trail truck, and it makes more sense to wire up a bunch of KC lights to the switch instead of little low wattage bulbs :)

ok, went ahead and crawled under the truck real quick because to be honest you got me curious. three out of four look to be in pretty good shape. the fourth one (passenger side front) looks like it got oversprayed with black paint or something. because all the other ones i can see the lights behind the lens, looks like LED's or something, and that fourth one looks just black. the housings have been painted white with the rest of the truck, and they attach with two bolts that go through the bumper and are fastened by nuts, and it looks like a power wire hooks to one of the bolts, and the housing grounds through the bumper into the chassis. when i take them off, ill check the resistance of all four of them, and see what i can tell you. Im not sure what the ohm spec is on these, but i would assume that somewhere between 0 and 100 ohms is ok, and an open circuit would be a bad unit. thats really the only way i can tell you if i think they are any good or not. unless someone on here knows a sure fire way to test them.

also, you might try asking around on steelsoldiers.com, bunch of military vehicle nuts over there. in fact, i think ill go post over there, and see if anyone can give me any specs on em.

ok, turns out they operate of the standard 12v light setup, so all i have to do to test them is jumper them onto the headlight circuit. Ill try to get that done today (my slow day) and let ya know what the status is on em tonight.

um........ i feel silly having looked at them several times today, but i cant remember if the are glass or plastic... i didnt get a chance to get to them today, but ill be pulling them off the truck tomorrow and taking a better look at them. ill give you an update after class tomorrow.
