here is my personal review on the 8800 evolution heated 4"x6" led conversion low beams .

my truck i drive is a 2007 GM 5500 rollback for work . the bone stock 4 headlight / quad light system was working no problems . but as anyone who has driven these at night let along in no moon light / dark / rainy nights its sketchy at best to see with just low beams on if traffic as coming at you . and making turns is blind faith at its best with no visible light out the sides .

here is a few pics of the units i picked up from the J.W. SPEAKER company . got them off ebay for the best price shipped . even better than amazon prices i checked . yes there crazy money but they JUST WORK !

this is a few crappy cell pics from the dash of my truck looking down my street at night with full clouds = no moon light . rainy and just BLACK out .

low beams 1st pic = low 2 only
high beams 2nd pic = all 4 on

2 mail box's 1 per side of road and a full telephone pole only seen with high beams on . other than house down the street's holiday lights on the left .

then i ordered up the lights . they showed up Friday .

Saturday today i pulled my truck up to my shop and did about the fastest conversion of best bang for the buck i have ever done in almost 20+ years of turning wrenches .

only problem i had was self inflicted on pass side . missed the 1 terminal in the plug . tested and no light . pulled it and saw it right off . unplug / tweek pin a tiny bit from missing the spade terminal socket / plugged in and 100% light up .

4 tiny screws for trim covers . 4 screws for hold down ring . unplug bulb set in the TRASH . plug in the J.W. SPEAKER provided pig tail plug thats on there light and tick in the extra wire in the back of the buckets . reinstall hold down ring and trim ring and test with sun glasses . :cool1:

at 4pm today full clouds and rain/slushy snow dropping tested in front of my shop at the door . even day light out the 2nd pic shows them working on the door .

then i waited till after dinner tonight for full dark out . also still full cloud cover / rainy / no moon light / pitch black out .

did a few pics of them in the same spot in front of my house looking down the street at the same place . lets just say my 2.0mp camera on my old flip phone don't do them JUSTICE !

low beam units only installed still have the halogen high beams . . . . . for just a few more days !

1st pic stock halogen low beams again for easy compare pics
2nd pic J.W. SPEAKER low beams only on
3rd pic stock halogen low and high again for easy compare pics
4th pic halogen high with J.W. SPEAKER low beams also

just to give you a idea of how much more was hiding in front of the old halogens . . . you can now see the end of the street less than 150ft in front of the nose of my truck :yikes: . yes the little snowy / grass fluff up there stright ahead is the end of the street were it does a 90* right and goes to the main road . there is 5-7ft of width of grass and then a HUGE chain link fence over 8ft tall .

also the side view being viewed now is HUGE . no more blind faith corner turns .

i took the truck out and went around for a bit and not 1 person flashed my there high beams yet . 20-30 vehicles worth . so i will say there fairly good as they advertise them to be . now they do say you should check and adjust them as needed as per the online directions they have . but i know mine were good already from checking them before when i knew they were out of spec . the stock positions were set so bad i could see in front of me better with high on then low beam . i re-aimed all 4 and this helped a lot . but now we have found the cure .

the next level of light has arrived today and before work so i was able to install them and try them on my way home from work tonight . slow night at work .

i dropped the money on the high beam units to make the full package . i knew it was going to be this way but i had to just try the low's first . . . so if you do any driving by your self ( non city traffic ) grab them all if you have a 4 headlight system . as the 2 headlight is a combo unit already .

now just to clear up and questions these are LOW beam & HIGH beam only lights for the quad light design of there 4x6 lenses .

last 2 pics are LOW beam and then HIGH beam = all 4 on both low and high . again these pics do NOT do these lights justice at all . oh my gosh they are massive mega improvement ! ! !

and last pic is the led low and halogen high to compare .

all i have to do is adjust the high beams down just a tiny bit to make the 2 lines of light meet up and be perfect . the highs are just a tad to high now . but it can wait for a bit warmer out for the older plastic adjuster bodys the screws pass threw .

Looks brighter n they don't look terrible
the older gentleman who lives directly across from me were i park my truck was out tonight . so i left them on as we talked about 75ft away from my truck . they were not bad at all if you didnt look directly at them as with any led light .

I did a 7" conversion on my round body k5 they are much brighter n still look almost normal. Gotta love new tech sometimes

few new tech like these led lights work as advertised or last . most of the led upgrades people use are not correct or dont flood light were they should and make it very hard to see when coming at you .

That's what I'm hoping isn't the issue. I haven't driven the k5 enough to kno if it bothered oncoming driving

Ah didn't even think about the heater. Nobody needs that here. I am very pleased with my set. I have sold several hundred sets of jw and rigid trucklites.
Both are very good products.

if it wasnt for the few life span reviews of truck light and the no heater option i would have prob picked them first . since they have been around for years .

altho J.W. SPEAKER shows on there web site since 1935 i think it was .

they show a nice 7" round for a 75 volt system for trains . . . i bet that sucker is bright :cool1:

Obviously I can’t see the pics since I’m not a member, but I have one question ... Why do you still have a flip phone?!?! :eek1: Time to upgrade that to new tech next! :rotfl:

I know pics generally have a hard time capturing the effectiveness of lighting at night, but your high/low beam comparison looks pretty similar to what I experience with my newer car...the low beams are very nearly as effective as the high beams. The only real difference that I see is that highs disperse light a bit more above and to the sides compared to the lows. But if I never had high beams, the lows are so effective it wouldn't really be detrimental.

The newer car has certainly brought home what headlights can and should be. Every time I drive the truck I cringe when I prepare to turn them on.

Based on driving conditions, perhaps unheated highs and heated lows might save a bit of money?

I do NOT want a smart phone . am happy with my stupid phone .

heated or non heated would save me a few bucks but not worth it for me i dont think . i need them when i need them so i got heated .

like every thing else these days there plastic .
