J.W. SPEAKER LED conversion headlight REVIEW :

I don't have them on the truck, but I did get the same headlight (well, round and 5") for my Hardley. I used to try to avoid riding at night. Putting that thing in there though, it is a HUGE difference. I have a springer front end, in two years it has not failed or stopped working due to all of the vibration and the lens has not yellowed or cracked. You CAN spray the lens with a clear coat with UV protection if you are worried about yellowing, Usually, they already have some sort of UV coating on them though. I don't recall if the JW speaker lights do or not.

We have a 4500 Kodak with a 16' stake bed ,lights do suck, till I read this I thought it was just our particular truck
no no no its the hight off the road / plastic bezel around the lights and OLD school light design .

i never would have figured this would have made this big a difference in driving my work truck . now i dont mind driving at night .

if you have a 4 headlight and dont want to spend crazy money you will be happy with just the low beams for sure .

Ahhhh,makes sense,thanks,safety upgrade,will be easy to justify

i had a hard time dishing out the cash for the first 2 . but once there in you will be hooked .

if you have a 2 headlight system then its not bad . but if you have a 4 headlight them maybe just the low beams and live with crappy highs ?

if i did just city driving with no high beam use i would be happy with just the lows . but i live and work in the country type area's so i use high beams a lot .
Unfortunately my 84 is 4beam and I have an ocd issue that'll keep me from doing only the driving lights bc they would look different :haha::waytogo:

I like using a Baja Designs LED for road use with no traffic but sometimes the sign glare is so bad you're better off without them. Anytime you have to deal with traffic, Speaker is the way! I've said it before but I think it's to both companies credit that the light color is the same (or at least any difference is indistinguishable by me). Both are at the top of their game and it's nice to see they agree on color.

I suffer from a bit of that glare as well but for the winter months i bought amber covers for my forward facing rigids. In blinding snow sometimes all i had to see with is those amber covered lights. Went thru that from meeker to craig one night. Lol.

well doing great until today . . . . .

left low beam was a disco light all day and finally died . . . .

got home and tested the system and found if high beam on the low worked . i remembered there low beam only on a 4 light system is low & high triggered . so i took the cover off to get the light out and found a broken wire from a bad design if you ask me . the H4 plug end is super cheep and open to the elements . ya i know its the same tech they have used for years . but after less than 5 months and the wire rots off at the pin terminal ? ? ? give me a break . so i will call tech and see what they say .

so since i have a second set for a project build i took the pig tail unit from that light and its all good now . . . . but there is 3 more lights :dunno::popcorn:

if it was my truck i would cut and solder and heat shrink . . . but this is my work provided truck so thats not going to happen .

Can you tell if the wire is aluminum/copper clad aluminum?

I've noticed that with much of the wiring out there, if you don't pay attention to the specs and make sure it says solid copper, TXL, whatever, it will often be copper clad aluminum, which particularly in thin strands, belongs nowhere near a vehicle, if anywhere. I've had it corrode into nothing with no evidence of the sheathing being compromised. I won't use it anymore, even for the lowliest project.

i didn't read anything, but.. my IMO on LED's..

those speaker ones aren't horrible, but the other standard led "see every bulb" ones are absolutely friggin hideous to me when during the day.. I love performance, but I don't drive enough at night to justify making Mutt look stoopid during the day...

@ryoken sad part is there is not much out there at all for the mini 4 headlight setup so your good to go then .

i dont drive as much at night anymore but when i do go out i will only drive this truck if i can help it with these lights . but when i got these i was doing a lot of night driving when i was towing .

I have a J.W. Speaker headlight on my Harley Street Glide. It’s great. Way better than the stock halogen. Lights up the whole road from a single round light. J.W. Speaker actually makes the Daymaker headlight for Harley. Harley puts their logo on it and charges you double.

Does any of the packaging or instructions indicate the Color Temperature of the lights?
