Jack stands

Interesting, are you doing this with the tires on? I built my truck using the 12 tons and have had both axles out a couple of times since without issue. I can put the stands behind the FUSH hanger and let the jack drop the axle(s) down on to a pair of HF car dollies. Maybe the difference is the custom drop hangers / shackles on the 1st gen?

No tires and the axle is on dollies. My truck is the same way (actually worse) with more droop in the springs.

However if you're putting the 12 tons under the flat belly of the frame (behind the FUSH) that might be the difference. With drivetrain hanging over the front that's too sketchy IMO, I prefer the stands at either end of the chassis for stability. Those 12 tons extended rock back and forth, fock that!

PS- I built both my trucks (more than once) with the 12 tons and a engine hoist. Now that I have quality jack stands I understand the safety I was sacrificing doing it the way I did in the past. In fact, I want a second pair of the sunnex stands now.

You make it sound like putting the stands behind the FUSH is in the middle of the truck but they're at the cab's front body mount bracket which puts only the motor and bellhousing in front of the stands, sorry but to say "drivetrain" is a bit of an exaggeration.

lol sorry I guess I should have clarified and said "part of drivetrain" the heavy part, known as the big block.

Just buy the Sunex set. If you can swing a pair of the tall and short ones, you'll be set for life. I ordered 4 and traded two tall ones for a set of medium ones with @Fastereddie . The tall version props the K5 up at the bumpers/frame horns and it's solid.

Edit: the 1410 model

I wish a company would pick some legit (aka not HF) 10 or 12 ton stand and produce taller "stick" for them. Nothing crazy but making stand 6" taller could make a huge difference.

Having the ORD leaf spring installed along with getting new exhaust.. Just easier for me at this point to have it done.

i use 2 ton pipe stands. Rigid brand I believe... They were about $70 each... i use them all the time...

I have a set of those and they are 2500 pounds each. They also have some rated at 2 tons each I believe…

I just use cribbing if I need a little more height out of jacks.
I am the same.
Having worked on mobile home assembly, I got used to the safety of cribbing and I have a big supply of short lumber to make as much I want.
I just picked up a bunch of 16"×16" 4" thick glue lam, so it will not split.
I also picked up a few 12"×24" 4" thick.
