Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee

The thing I would be worried about if you can get into the thing. The last JGC I tried to get into the back seat was like geting into the back of a two seat sports car.:eek1: No room thru the door and not much when you got in. And I am not that big. But maybe they have changed the new ones.

HaHa !! Very good point. I'd prbly never be riding back there but it mite mean that I'd be scooted forward plum under the dash to give someone else room.
I've always said auto engineers must be midgets. Oops ****,, can't say that.
I meant "little people". :D

What if a guy was looking to buy a 2007/08 Grand with a diesel.
How are they? Were can I look for good info on them, actually I would like to see the bad stuff.

Anyone got one of these and like it,or know somebody that does?

I work on them alot.

The engine and everything thats accociated with operating it are VERY expensive and labor intensive. Except the glow plugs. They are easy. Swirl valves are a common problem. I charge 6hrs labor to do those plus the part is $350.

The trans is solid. The diffs are ok if you dont tow or drive the snot out of it.
Dont spill coffee on the Shifter. That will cost $1000.

If you are serious about getting one pm me.

I`m not liking the part were you say "I work on them a lot" :haha:
I was also thinking about a 06 Liberty Diesel...my buddy has one and loves it, he told me last night it has a Cummins in it. He bought it after we moved to Alberta from B.C. so I have never been in it.

Any thoughts on those? He said his has be great, it has 126 thousand klms on it and they bought it new. Only thing he had trouble with is a egr valve.

Edit...No cummins! VM Detroit from Italy.

I shouldn't say a lot. But plenty. Also my dealer sold more diesel grands and libertys than almost any other. That might have something to do with it. We also do sprinters, which have the same engine.
Just expect to spend $1000 every time it does need something.

I'm a bit partial to the liberty crd. Egr valve is about the only issue. Occasional stuck glow plug, but Really reliable. Timing belt/pump/tensioner/idlers need done around 100k. Labor isn't terrible. I would love to SAS one of those

So you prefer the Liberty then?

I was reading up on Lost KJ.com sounds not to bad about the same as a tdi jetta for maintenance.

Some guys were saying the electrical on the Liberty can be a pain. I hate electrical problems! Have you found them to be bad for that?

They have problems with the body control modules. It controls everything from lights to seats. All your switches are inputs to it. It controls the grounds for the relays. They like to burn up the headlamp and horn relay circuits on the board.

The windows are also an issue. The regulators break at will. Also the window run channels distort and cause the windows to go up crooked.

That's really about it. Libertys In general are really low maintenance. A lot less than grand Cherokees.

Always good to ask someone that works on a certain vehicle if they are ok or not.
Thanks for the info!:thumb:
