Whos got what and do they leak?

I have been reading for days in the intarweb and can't get a straight answer on what ones are the best.

My plans are to have either 2 5Gal gas or 5 Gas/5H2o in the truck bed.

im sure they are all the same.. the biggest threat would be securing it, i wouldnt worry about leaks unless it gets crushed or something

From what I read on the net the Blitz cans are bad with leaks for some and not for others.

I would prefer to get metal cans but the plastic would work if they are better.

Are you in the navy? Just get some of the MFC's. They are by far the best cans out there, hell I even they you can shoot them and they wont explode. Otherwise check out http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=318834. They are cheap and all the ones I have bought have been in good condition. You may have to buy new gaskets, but those are cheap. Just don't buy the spout from them, it sucks.

Yeah I am ACDU Navy but I deal with weapons not trucks and motors....No hookup out here either.

The spouts was the other thing I was reading about.

The newer plastic cans the military is using (is that what an MFC is?) would be my choice if looking for something that style.

All the Blitz style gas cans seem to have pretty weak/leak prone spouts, and they are fairly thin.

I've got metal US military cans, and at least one of them leaks from the vent if it's tipped over. (only used one extensively) Even vertical though on a hot day it will vent gas fumes.

I'm not quite so safety concerned when it comes to SOME things, so metal vs. plastic cans doesn't bug me, but apparently it was a NATO safety thing that drove the US military switch to plastic.

Oh, by the way, at least some US military cans are lined with something (not galvanized) and it blisters and flakes off over time, which means you end up dumping that coating into your tank. Not sure on other nations fuel cans.

Yea , those cans out of that sportsman catalog are very similar to the cans I have Mine say WEDCO on the side label (no website) Anyway , I highly recommend them , they don't leak like the BLITZ cans do

The one in this pic never leaks, I use Big Azz Channel locks to open and close it.

Do a web search on the "Scepter" fuel cans. They're some of the best for water or fuel that I've run across.

I use the Wedco cans. They are more expensive but very high quality. A different weld design that helps prevent rust. http://www.expeditionexchange.com/wedco/

I got mine at an army surplus store and have never had a problem with them while on the truck. I have had a small amont of leakage around the base of the spout while I'm pouring gas out of the can, but it's tolerable. Plus it was cheap.
