June Rubicon Trip (more pics)

lmao jeeps kill me. That lady in the first vid flipped on an embankment off the beaten path lol. I should have gotten myself some jeep recovery stickers.

She can flip her Jeep all she wants, couldn't care less. It's the ones that complain about their bumpers and those goofy fender flares that bug me. As long as they don't wish the trail was easier, complain away, just don't change it. I can't stand that "everyone should be able to...." mentality. :doah:

Hahah im with you there. I was mentioning the flip more out of amazement. Sounds like she didnt have control of her jeep as she blamed it on the locker. I guess thats the Jeep thing they talk about?

Also, found one of my vacuum nipple rubber caps broken off and another line rock solid. No wonder my fuel pressure was low and my idle was high, damn vacuum leaks. And, found my idle timing at 15*. Seems to be fine but I went ahead and dropped it to 12-13* where is should be.

I'm effing ready! Here's hoping the tow rig will be ready lol

No, you gotta go to TJ to get that. :doah:

Thought that same thing. Stop moving the Jeep if you can't turn it :haha:

Her stunt is what spooks me about those folks. I give them a wide birth. If you cant distinguish the gas from the brake you need to be a passenger. Some of the jeeps look like there trail ready but most look like they got the bolt on crawler kit from 4 wheel parts. Nothing wrong with that but it enables people to be out there that shouldnt be in the first place. There are plenty of boozers that wheel and dont flop that easy...maybe granny had some moonshine in the ol purse. I got a kick out of how dramatic the video got when that happened. I thought someone was going to get airlifted lol.

Dunno, but I love this users videos. I think I've watched them all. There just aren't any good full size videos like these Jeep ones. Check out the Moab stuff too :D

I keep forgetting to ask but who has done the trail before?

Also, I wont have a CB/ etc in time for the run. I might try to bring a pair walkie talkies to share with someone that might have communications set up.

I've only done the Tahoe side and it was 10+ years ago as a codawg.

Walkies would be good. I have some too, I think I have four actually. I'll dig them up this week.

True but ill change that. search uc4x4 and wt4x4 on youtube. they both have fullsize runs on the rubicon. Good guys too.

Ive ridden through parts of the trail on the loon lake side with a dirt bike but never all the way through.

Yeah I may be in the same boat but we'll stay together unless I mix the gas with the brake and end up in lake tahoe. My cb is mounted but needs power. might try to power it up if I have time.

lol, soooooooo who's the trail leader?
Anyone else outside of CK5 going for sure?

You mean who wants dents first? I dont mind leading or trading off lead. I have a possible bronco and possible tacoma coming too. Tacoma guy should make it but bronco guy had tow rig issues as of late. Im totally happy with 3 to 8 rigs. I dont want to become a train but enough rigs to get someone out of trouble sure does help.

Id really like it if more folks from ck5 went. Not sure why theres not much interest.

Whos going to try soup bowl?

Since the trail seems to get easier as more Jeeps get damaged, I'm bummed it's difficulty (and by extension my accomplishment feeling) isn't what it used to be. I wouldn't have tried Little Sluice a couple years ago, waaay to much for a full size, even one that doesn't care about it's body, but now it's a cakewalk and I do plan to hit all the extra credit items along the trail, including SoupBowl. I have to at least attempt the hardest parts of Rubicon, just to feel a little more proud. :D

I know what you mean! I think we will find some tough spots. It's changed a lot since 2003. once my rig is tried and true I would have any issue doing Fordyce or dusy.

Performance of the rig will dictate what I'll be doing.

Exactly!
