I found a partial 90-91 cluster with a few tabs broken along with not all of the gauges. Also missing clear glass as well as the black surround was cracked at top. I left it there but if anyone wants it, I can go back and grab it. I'd say $50 plus shipping. The volt meter is from an 86' suburban I found in the yard too. The speedo looks like someone scratched the first number....look closely.

Also found an 04' avalanche with the engine torn apart in pieces....tranny and transfer case gone. Any reason someone went to that effort and left the 8.1L engine?!?

Just found it odd. Also, axle shafts out of the 14 bolt rear were removed along with gears. Axle housing left too.

Shame, too bad it doesnt have the workhorse accessories brackets.

I think the 91 is different then the 90 when it comes to the circuit board. Likewise, the 4L80 model of the 2500 has a different plate.

The speedo, fuel gauge and cluster all are from a 90' 1500 suburban. It looked like the factory 350, but looks like the tranny and t-case were changed. It was a stick (with clutch), and a cable driven t-case. Don't know how they converted the cable to the electric speedo. And let's say they had a lot of colorful paint everywhere! tranny and tcase were green! Heater box blue, front grill silver......pretty ugly really.

Hydro or mech clutch?

I don't know off hand. I didn't really pay attention because another guy was in the engine compartment. Just noticed the clutch inside.....

Some yards here wont sell parts off a good engine, they yank them out whole, and store them indoors on pallet racks..ditto for good used axles and transmissions..

If they know an engine was overheated, cracked, etc, then they let be put out in the yard and let the scavengers pick the remains..some yards I go to I see much the same thing, and it makes me shake my head--like the 14 bolt in your pictures--why gut it in the truck, when taking the whole unit would be easier, and probably cost the same ?..
I see lots of good things ruined this way..this is why "pick & pulls" are getting scarcer here,on top of insurance regulations..

I'd find it quite odd if they left a use-able 8.1 out in the yard to be cannibalized, but then some places have the attitude "its all junk to us" and I've seen perfectly good low mile 454 RV engines get shoved in a scrap pile locally, rather than sell them and risk a comeback because they sat too long,etc....:screwy:

Yea, most vehicles here all have engines in them...that the way they roll.

I saw another 14 bolt the same way...shafts gone. And the price for a fully assembled axle, regardless of type, $99. Plus $9 core.
