This is just a idea right now and trying to do research, get info and ideas on how and if to do correctly.

I was talking to head of maintenance at work Friday about my small trailer I had there that use to be a pop up that I stretched and put sides and he offered me a free 2004 travel camper that is 25ft long from tongue is with dual axles and trailer brakes.

The bad is floor is rotten and tires are dry rotted so he said yours if you want it. The good is working A/C,toilet,good windows etc. So I part it out and use extra $ for steel etc to make frame stronger.

So would you take it for free? I won't be able to buy car trailer anytime soon with price of them around here and 2 kids. I can however strip and work on it during fall/winter.

I would strength it with tube hate channel holds water and then use 2x8 for floor and make sure axles can hold a K5 with 1 ton running gear is max I need.

I would like to build this on cheap and also cause I hate asking people to use there trailer. I have 2 other projects that will be needing hauling along the way in next year at least.

I mean it is FREE. So what do I need to know, research more, ideas?

I have googled some builds and seen some nice haulers made then some say don't do it.

The frames are weak and the axles are usually in the wrong place. All easy to fix with angle iron.

I have helped build a couple of these. Your gonna spend more on steel than you think the frames are super chintzy but done right decent.

Free is good as long as the axles are solid and at least 5 lug. 6 lug even better

It's a crap ton of work. The guy I helped build the nice one for has exactly 500 bucks into his.

His axles were 6 lug and rated at 5klbs each and both had brakes. No way your getting that for 500.
