Says HD on the engine compartment sticker, and listed as a 8600 gvw, but it has the 9.5 rear axle. 6.0 engine. I didn't think they used the HD until 2001?
Anyhow, it needs some seat covers. They are leather, but have worn holes in them, and definitely need replacement. I want to replace or repair them, but don't want a sh!tty farmers bench twead cover on em.:haha:
Anybody ever buy any seat covers for their truck that actually look good?

A friend of mine still has his 99 2500. It isn't technicaly an HD if his memory serves him (believe it or not) The HD NBS didnt come out til '01 with the 10.5 rear and the Duramax as an option (11.5 in those). Nice truck, just think it was GM's feeler to see how it sold

I agree HD, it seems more like the 1500HD model than a true "HD" as we know them today.
It does however have the 8600 gvw, and I had a 78 K20 that was only 6800 gvw.
How times change.

Still a nice ride and great tow vehicle, congrats:waytogo:

FYI, a guy I used to race with used to tow his 28' enclosed with his no problem. Watch out for the manifold bolts at the head at the front and back snapping though (still do it on the new ones).

I'll check those out....just at the ends? Does the manifold shrink some and snap em?

It looks like between the weight of the y-pipe and the manifolds shrinking it's just snapping them like twigs

yea, its just a normal 2500, later on 1500HD came on the scene (even though they are the same trucks just with a different door badge and sometimes a np246)... 2500HDs had the taller frame and the 10.5 14ff like has been said before

Man I love the way those look, the way they sit and the wheels and everything.

Score!

Score is right Riley....$3800....I put the tires on it, repaired the driver seat, put rear brakes on, and changed all the drivetrain fluids, and filters.
Total investment just under $5K.

I'm happy with it.

the CD player don't work....it does nothing.
it is the single disc unit by itself in the lower part of the center dash/console....is it easy/cheap to replace?

go grab one at a junk yard or on ebay... its the same radio from 1995-2002 or so CD deck options came in like 97 or 98 on up

how to remove....I read there is no tools required, is there a quick release of this unit?

I have a CD/cassette head unit sitting in my closet if you want I can send it your way. The cassette is in the radio and the CD is remote, like yours I believe. It came out of my Yukon when I did some electronic trickery and now have an mp3 with the stock radio:D

Looks like a dead ringer Riley.....simple as removing 2 screws from the cd storage opening, and lifting off the console cover....2 minutes tops.
Anyhow, PM me with a price and link for your paypal.

thanks, Zim

HOw the fock does the stand alone factory CD player work...It says it functions through the radio, but I can't even get it to take a CD in it.
The original unit, and a replacement neither one will do sh!t.....wiring appears to be ok, but I don't even know which pin to probe for power to the unit.

Check behind the main unit, that may be unplugged. In that case, the remote cd player won't work. If so, I'll offer a refund for mine, since you don't really need it.
